This is to inform all the newest PSP owners and future owners of the 2001 models. I currently have a 2001 model, but it has to have been manufactured sometime prior to Sep 08 or maybe even before that. I say this because my son has a 2001 model also and I have performed everything as I did with his older 2001 model which I now own. We made a deal to purchase him a newer PSP and I made sure that it was definitely the same model as the first one. I have learned from reading other sources including in this site that there is definitely another version of the 2001 model. I'm pretty sure and agree with what I have read in many other posts that the newly manufactured 2001 model PSPs are being equipped with a newer MOBO. They are not hackable as the previous 2001 MOBOs and if you have purchased a 2001 model be sure to never upgrade it to the 5.01, or 5.02 firmware.
The box which contained the hackable PSP is the one with Brett Favre (Blue) on the cover and is one of the value packs. The other one that I purchased for my son has the normal PSP artwork on the front (Black). The following is all the information concerning this crappy PSP 2001 which my guess was manufactured sometime late 2008, maybe after Sep 08 or so:
1. PSP2001PB/ 98510
2. Serial No. AB025890099
3. POS Bar Code/ 11719 85100
Do not purchase this one if you plan on using CFW for Homebrew games and exploits!
I guess I'll have to give mine back to my son and take that ole crappy non-hackable one until one of the Geniuses save the day for the later 2001 model holders.![]()

i agree with killer funnyboy.back off of this guy.its bad enough he bought a psp that has the new mobo,he doesnt have to put up with your bs as well!
Fathers and Sons have issues bonding, and if you're a cowboy you should know that. If this helps them, so be it.
And sorry, but this is quite old news. You can't really tell if you can install CFW on a new PSP now because of these motherboards without buying it first and being disappointed. They say you can use the letters on the label of the box as a reference but even that has been proved void in select cases. There is no way to tell, unless you are 100% sure that it came with less than 4.01 official firmware when it was purchased as brand new.
Personally, I side stepped this while I was buying my new white PSP slim. I wanted a brand new one, but since christmas had just happened all the stock was going to be brand new, and buying from a store was pretty much out of the question as they don't let you try before hand. I e-mailed around 25-30 people through eBay asking about their auctions for their PSP's over the course of two weeks, asking if they would sell their console alone and without games and memory stick and what the official firmware was when they bought it. I managed to get one good reply, and I followed it up and bought it. They claimed it was 3 months old and in as new condition, as it was, and it had 3.70 firmware when it was bought. I am now running 5.00 M33-4 and loving my new white slim.
Long story short, if you want a "new condition" PSP you're going to have to look through eBay or other non-formal trading sites. You need to ask the seller what the firmware was when they bought it, and if it's 4.01/4.05 or higher, don't bother buying. You'd be surprised how many eBayers said they didn't know what firmware was, let alone what it was when it was bought. I had an absolute nightmare trying to get what I want, but it can be done.
If all else fails, just wait until specific trusted hackers crack the code of the new motherboard and unlock all of these PSPs that can't use CFW. It's really not a matter of "if", but "when", so go through eBay if you're impatient or just wait it out.

ok tell me what about daxter entertainment bundle that amazon is selling. Is it moddable
