hey guys, i put my psp fat on 3.71 MM firmware a long time ago, and it was working pretty well i guess, but i only had a gba emu on there... I'm wanting to get into psp hacking again but i have a few noobish questions:
    1. what exactly do the magic memory stick and pandoras battery do?
    2. Once i hack my psp, do i need to keep the magic memory stick and pandoras battery in there, or can i take them out and replace with regular ones?
    3. When i turn my psp on with magic memory stick and pandoras battery in, it gives me a screen with the options; Press X to install 3.71 M33, Press O to install original 3.71, press [] to dump the nand, and press L+R+start+home to restore nand dump physically (dangerous!), ive tried all of these except the last one, but it takes me to the same screen every time. I tried holding down L, R, and L+R wen i turn the psp on but it doesnt work. Whats wrong?
    4. When i try turning it on with just the battery, it gives me a blank screen even though it is on.
    5. When i try turning it on w/o the battery (using the charger) sometimes gives me a blank screen and sometimes starts up normally but does not show the home screen menu, just the background and the clock+battery symbol in upper right hand corner. same with mem. stick in.
i know its a long post, and alot of questions, but i'd really appreciate some help... thanks for at least reading this far though

thanks, it did help. I got it to shoe up on my comp, but wut do i do next? It still takes me to a screen with nothing but the background and the date/time in top right, right after i set the date/time (happens multiple times)
will reformatting my memory stick stop this?

uhh no i havent messed with the flash, at least i dont think so. ive reinstalled 3.71 M33 a couple times and dumped the nand once (bad idea?). just tried installing the original 3.71 instead, got the same results. I have some emulators and games on the mem stick, could this be the reason im getting the background only screen? i forgot to mention last time that the psp shuts itself down after about 20 seconds on this screen. Should i run rpogram at /PSP/GAME/RECOVERY/EBOOT.PBP from the M33 recovery menu?

Format the Memory Stick once in USB Mode. Using the computer, to access/delete files, etc, etc. Once you've deleted everything (formatted it), you should be able to boot up.
