changing to a different cfw

How do you change to a different cfw that is lower than your current one? I tried putting the update file in the game folder but my psp wouldn't let me do it because my firmware was higher than the one I was trying to update to.

that's because part of the sony os is still in the cfw specifically the part disallowing regular install to lower firmware, I think you can use Hellcat's flasher, but I just find it easier to use the pandora's battery and mms combo
