Hi there. I'm afraid I'm yet another noob trying to get custom firmware on their psp for the first time. I've followed practically every guide on the net, and used every piece of software I can find, but still no success. Can someone at least suggest whether my psp is just not capable of being hacked.
My Slim PSP model is a PSP-2003.
The date code is 8A
The firmware is currently 4.01
I cant remember what firmware was on it when I bought it, but it was definitely lower than 3.80
I have a Sony branded 1GB Memory Stick Pro Duo Mark 2
I have a Datel Slim Tool Battery.
So far I have tried several methods for creating a MMS and all the software tells me it has done its job successfully.
However, when I hold the neccessary button on the PSP, and insert the Datel Tool Battery, the green power light comes on, but the screen stays blank, and the memory stick light doesnt flash at all.
Is this an indication that the MMS is not doing its job, or could it equally be a problem with my psp.
If someone could point me in the direction of a definitive list of PSP's that can be hacked, or if someone has hacked a PSP the same as mine, or if anyone thinks they can help, please reply.
btw, I'm using vista, but even the methods that are supposed to work with vista, despite seeming to run okay and telling me they have successfully created an mms, dont make the psp screen or memory stick light come on, just the bloody power light.
Thanks in advance. Look forward to joining the mod community once I get this sorted. Ask me for any extra info.
Jesse.

I've tried Rains MMS Maker already unfortunately, followed the instructions, but still just blank screen and no mem stick light when i boot it with the tool battery. It's so frustrating cos my psp should be one of the hackable ones. Has anyone had any problems with the datel tool battery? Maybe mines faulty, or if the power light comes on when i insert it, does that mean its working ok? Also, what's this I've heard about 'fake' memory sticks?
Anyone?
sounds like its working and did u order ur mem stick with ur battery?

1. remove normal battery
2. unplug AC adaptor
3. insert Magic MS
4. HOLD the left shoulder button
5. while still holding L button, insert Datel / Pandora
6. follow on-screen instructions.
the reason for the black screen is your mms did not come with the normal psp system files on it try holding down the L trigger or use pandora deluxe

Make sure it isnt a fake memory stick make sure that is magic gate supported. Where did you get the memory stick? I have had a couple of different ms that didnt work with my friends psp or anything sony. He got them from ebay. Go to the retail store and get a 512mb ms and use that and follow the link in my sig to make a ulitimite mms xp vista it will work if you do that. Just make sure that the memory stick supports magic gate or you can make the mms 1000 times and it wont work. After you installed your cfw go get (2) micro sd cards and a photofast 5400. They are cheaper then getting one 16g stick it works great I love mine.
