Yes you need custom firmware to run it. Since you have 5.50 firmware, the only way for you to do that is get a pandora battery and magic memory stick.

I have a PSP 1000 with a 4gb memory stick in, and when I try to open ultimate PSP tube or just PSP tube, from the "GAME" folder, it says the The game cannot be started. The data is corrupt. Is there any way that I could get PSP tube to work?
