Wow, not many of those original Japanese consoles these days. I don't think you can run hellcats recovery flasher on 1.0, so update it to 1.5, then run it, and you'll go direct to 5.00 M33, the latest custom firmware.

    1.5 update here -
    RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

    Hellcats here -
    File Details-Recovery-Flasher-v1.50-PSP - (Use the 1.50 version)

    5.00 EBOOT here -
    RapidShare: Easy Filehosting

So first you want to rename the 150.PBP file to EBOOT.PBP, place it in your GAME/UPDATE folder, and run that from your memory stick. You'll then be on 1.50.

Next get the Hellcats Recovery Flasher, put it on your GAME/RECOVERY folder. Put the 500.PBP file on the root of your memory stick. Then just run the flasher from your memory stick, and choose the option install 5.00 M33-3.

The battery might have had it in the time it's been left standing. If you take the AC adapter out, what does it say for your battery status?

I highly doubt that, there is no bonus to having a PSP on 1.0 firmware except for nostalgia. First thing anyone would want to do is upgrade it. You'd have to be stupid to pay a lot of money for a 1.0 PSP, not upgrade it and hardly use it.

Nostalgia can be pretty powerful.... people pay alot of money for pretty useless, or even (in our eyes) completely retarded items for nostalgia, look at the Antique's Roadshow, or even Ebay.

    EDIT

As to not double post.... but if it had a broken screen you might have to replace to mobo. I've had 4 PSP's in the past that I had aquired as "Dropped and Bricked". Through a bit of tinkering, I had found out that all 4 had screen problems either completly broken or just cracked... and all 4 would not charge. The reason for them being thought as bricked was because the Batteries were dead and wouldnt run or charge via the A/C adapter.
