Hi, I am new to this and just got my phat psp to firmware 5.0m33-4 but I've been reading around this forum and it says there is a m33-6

Should I upgrade it? What is the difference between the two?

I would upgrade if you want to make a nand dump if you would want to go back to -4 I recommend upgrading to 5.50 GEN A but if you only like m33 custom firmwares then stay with m33.

i think the only difference is bug fixes. but maby i'm horribly wrong. anyway, i have 5.00m33-6 and it works fine. you said your new so you probably won't notice the difference, so i suggest upgrading.

why would you NOT upgrade? I mean Upgrades are usually good and make things more compatible run smoother etc, is like common sense, unless there are some bugs in the new version ( doubtfully ) then why NOT?

He's still in the same firmware and kernel though, 5.00, any -1/2/3/4/5/6 etc updates won't cause any compatibilty errors unless there was a coding bug in one of the updates, which i think there was in -5, hence why -6 was quickly released.

Why not? The short answer is because I can't be bothered if it does not have any significant differences, I am new to this so upgrading is harder for me than you'd think. Just finding the file to download takes a while.

actually you don't have to search for the files, just make sure m33 update is on in the recovery menu, then do the normal update theng.

he never said he didn't have it. Its a pretty common thing to have these days, or you could go to a library/starbucks, you get it.

I know, i was just speaking generally, plenty of people are still wired at home, and it's obviously easier to download and update manually than to head outside and find a hotspot.
