    Ok, so looking through the firmware I see an "ata.prx" in /kd and /km. Could this possibly be an ata driver to load an ata connection to the UMD drive? If so then we could replace the umd drive with a hard drive, possibly without modding this .prx even.

    I think the umd drive ZIF connector is the most promising way to connect a hard drive (usb and memory card slot are way too complex).

    no the psp has no hosting capabilities, it doesn't even have an ATA connector on its motherboard, more then likely its for one of the psps features (i.e. Internet, location free player, etc.)
