First of all, I'm new to this whole PSP modding thing. I've already been doing some research on the internet and I think I get the idea how to install CFW on a PSP. I need a CFW compatible PSP, a pandora battery and a magic memory stick...
Now, I don't have a PSP, but I'm thinking about buying one, a used one, so that I can install CFW and homebrew/emulators on it. The problem is, I'm afraid to buy one that is not compatible with CFW...
I know the current PSP they sell in stores, the PSP 3000, isn't compatible with CFW, and I dont want the fat PSP 1000, so I really have to find a second hand PSP 2000, that is compatible with CFW (so not the one that has that motherboard, that prevents it from hacking).
Well, I've found someone who is selling his PSP 2004, but I'm not sure if I should buy this. I've read that some PSP 2004 models have this new motherboard. Is there any way to find out what motherboard it has, and if I will be able to mod it? Should I ask the guy what firmware it has?
Or maybe is there an easier way for me to get a CFW PSP?

06-28-2009, 05:06 PM what color is teh slim, if its red, white or silver then its 100% hackable if not then you will have to check

So is there any way to make sure, before buying this used psp, that it doesn't have the ta-88v3 motherboard?
Should I ask for the firmware? Because apperently when it has 4.01 it has a high chance of having this motherboard?
