That matters. Do you want to have access to the PSN? 5.00 M33 CFW's are no longer able to access the PSN. That includes the Store, Remote Play w/ PS3, and most of all online games.

5.50 GEN-A/B may not be as homebrew and app friendly, but most stuff works on it and it has more up to date FW. For GEN, the PSN works like it does on OFW PSP's, so you are not blocked from it like you are with 5.00 M33-6.

Personally, I prefer homebrew games and apps over PSN. Can 5.50GEN-B play isos, csos, emulators and stuff?(idk because ive always stuck with m33)

    Yes, you can.

Right now I have a few ISO's on it, Bookr, and a screenshot taking plugin.

Can you play most homebrew apps on it? Or just a few?

i want to upgrade but at the moment cant because of no support for the time machine program from m33. ive been using my hardmodded pandora as a standard. so the new update is an epic fail

I've been on 5.50GEN-a now since release, and I updated to GEN-b once it was released. I've got to say, it's one of the buggiest firmwares I've seen. A lot of stuff I've tried won't run on it. The official 5.50 CXMB is buggy and so are the themes that are out for it. Bubbletunes Game Categories freezes up as soon as the XMB loads. No 1.5 Kernel. Occasional random crashes.

The only reason I'm using it is because the downloadable content for Rock Band: Unplugged won't run on 5.00M33. I don't even really care about the PS Store, I just use it to find new demos and trailers. I can do without that.

I'd say that unless you want to access the PS Store, there is absolutely NO reason to update to 5.50GEN-b. Right now it's just JUNK. It might mature with time but I doubt it.

I've been waiting for a while for the new m-33 firmware to come down the pipe so when I saw the gen-b 5.50 I figured I would give it a whirl.
    Night.
    Mare.
    period.
The download/install took on my phat psp and it played my backups so everything seemed fine. After a while I discovered it wouldn't run my apps. Installed the same cfw on my friends slim and it worked fine for about 5 minutes then it went to sony's multilingual blue screen of death.
No big problem. Reached for my hard-modded battery to fix everything back, but it lost it's charge sometime in the last few months.
Enter GenB's one saving grace(imo): The ability to pandora/unpandora any battery from the vsh.
Now my problem is that I want to reset them to both to m-33 but I'm not sure if time machine works the same way as genb's pandora utility. I've only got the one battery that I use for my system.

That's why GEN put that feature there... so when you got to the point where you realized that their firmware sucks you can more easily go back.
