Hey I am getting the error code 80010087 while trying to play the free games from the welcome back package from the psn
A few days ago they were working fine but the other day I got on the psn and they havn't worked since I don't know if getting
on the psn had anything to do with this but I wanted to include it. I was wondering if the files could be corrupted or something
and needed to be downloaded again?

    needs a hands on techie....hahaha

    System Software: 5.50 GEN-D3
    PSP1001

I have 3 psp's.two -1001, and one - 3001.....one of the 1001's refuses to play one of the UMD games, the other ones will...
    Keep getting the error code:
    80020148
The game could not be started

When I go to redo the PSP Update ver 6.60
    I get this message>
The system software of your PSP
    system is version 9.90.
There is no need to update.

also, when trying to do a Network update, I get this error:
A connection to the server could not be
    established
    (20000006)

I did the registration trick of disabling things and have also done the Restore to Default, and still get the above error....

    pretty please...H E L P....I'm a PSP Virgin...so please be gentle.

    1. Press select in xmb and where it says usb device change it from memory stick to flash 0
    connect to computer.

    2. Don't touch anything in the usb, just search for the file, version.txt.

    3. Open it up and change release number from 9.90 to 5.50 or lower than 6.20 or anything you want your version number to be.

    4. Change usb device back to memory stick.

    5. Finish!

or im pretty sure if you goto the recovery menu under configuration disable version text it will solve your problem either will work

    Dankgame,
    THANK YOU FOR THE ASSIST!!
unfortunately i could not find the file "version.txt"
when in the XMB, I hit SELECT I get the following message:

I did go back and put the game in again to check...still getting the same error code. (80020148)
While the game is in, it shows on the xmb for GAME the following:
    Game
    game sharing
    saved data utility
    umd
    PSP Update ver 6.20
    memory stick

it is at the PSP update ver 6.20 that when i hit the X button I get the message:
The system software of your PsP
    system is version 9.90.
There is no need to update.

I also double check with the recovery menu configuration and the VERSION TEXT is currently DISABLED.

After much searching over the past couple hours, I found this on youtube

    1. plug in usb

    2. go into recovery mode ( hold R when starting PSP)

    3. go to advanced/ usb configuration flash0

    4. go to your pc

    5. navigate to VSH/etc and open version.txt

    6. change version.txt from 9.90 to 5.50

    7. save and leave recovery mode

    iGabbyish

I did the above, went to Memory stick/vsh/etc
under the "etc" file is where I found "version" text document.
below is what it says ((if that helps anyone else))

    release:9.90:
    build:6666,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
    system:54865@release_610,0x09090010:
    vsh: p6501@release_610,v55286@release_610,20121221:
    target:1 : WorldWide

In step 6, you'll need to OPEN version, and then change the 9.90 to 5.50 and then click SAVE.
it should then look like this:
    release:5.50:
    build:6666,0,3,1,0:builder@vsh-build6
    system:54865@release_610,0x09090010:
    vsh: p6501@release_610,v55286@release_610,20121221:
    target:1 : WorldWide

    ........................................
I placed the Kingdom Hearts (Birth by Sleep) back into the PSP....

    under the GAME tab
    I see:

    game sharing
    saved data utility
    umd
    PSP Update ver 6.20
    memory stick

I click on the update version and click accept to run the 6.20 update. let it run the update.....and.....wait for it.....

    YAY!!! THE GAME IS PLAYING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I double checked the update and it does indeed show
The system software of your PsP
    system is version 6.20.
There is no need to update.

THANK YOU DANKGAME FOR YOUR TIME AND EFFORT IN TRYING TO HELP ME!!!!
