ok, I have a TA-082/86 psp. Its 1001. It's hacked. Umd's don't work. I have pandora. Now that that's been established. Holy crap! I've done everything I could think of and still, nothing! The psp could not even read the umd before the umd drive even closes. One guy sed he fixed that by using xflash to change all backgrounds to black and disabling the network update thing. I know that sounds completeley and utterly useless but mabey the flash could have done something. I tried using 2.71 hen-d but xflash doesnt work on that. i also tried using 1.50 with xflash but the method failed. If anyone can tell me how to use xflash on 2.71 hen-d or even anyway possible to fix this problem I will be forever grateful. Please HELP! cry cry cry.

First of all, let me say, your friend is an idiot. Secondly, what firmware version are you on? Either way, it sounds like physical damage, but you can try upgrading. Why do you need the UMD drive? A hacked PSP can play ISOs (games off the memory card). Just download the games you already own (please, only those) and put them in a folder called ISO in the root of your memory card.

    AMD Phenom II X4 945 3.0GHz | 4GB A-Data DDR2 RAM | Sparkle Nvidia GeForce 9400GT 512MB
    Intel Core i5 M430 2.27GHz | 4GB DDR3 RAM | Intel GMA HD

The thing is I want some upcoming games(kingdom hearts birth by sleep, and final fantasy dissidia) and i don't want to download it i want to buy it. I think it has something to do with my idstorage keys or w/e. It's just a big pain. This happened the first time I hacked my psp. From then on it was downhill. and all i have is a 1 gig mem stick. most games are bigger than that. Especially kingdom hearts. If it's completely not possible i'll just have to settle for buying the psp 3000 dissidia bundle with my birthday money.

Well I like that you never wanna play ISOs! Good to find a person who isn't a pirate!

Anyways it's most likely a problem with the system, like most psps and ps3 their disc readers (UMD drive breaks for psp and ps3 get broken lasers because of blu-ray player). You need to try one of these 2 methods
    1. If your PSP is still in warranty (If you got an extended warranty) try reflashing to OFW then send it off to sony (or brick it by downloading an update then while installing update shut off psp) any of these methods will make your psp ready to be sent for free repairs to sony
    2. Replace it yourself by buying a PSP1k UMD door, I do not recommend this cause you thought that idiot could help you, you do not seem too bright so if you really don't wanna try this option or option 1, try sending it off to a company online (check if it is a scam by going to the scam section on these forums) and they will repair it and all.

    Try one of these.
    i am an idiot.

Did you try opening up the psp, removing the screen, taking off the metal screen holder thing, and uh... checking to see if the UMD Ribbon Wire is in all the way into the clip? that could of done it, and if that's not it, check to see if anything is on the lens. After all, it's already broken, try blowing on the lens.
I don't be around the way; Like I used to, I don't have time these days.
