Hi guys, hope you can answer a question for me
My current CFW is 5.50 GEN-B (full)
Can/should I upgrade to 6.00 and then reinstall the same CFW? And is it as simple as that?

Basically I can't play backups of some of my new games (FF dissidia and marvel alliance 2) and I don't know if I need to upgrade my CFW (and if so what to?) or if I need to upgrade to 6.00 then reinstall my current CFW or if it's a totally different issue.

I also have no idea of upgrading to 6.00 is an incredibly bad idea full stop as I am a bit of a noob.

I've asked here already on different forums and pvt messages but I am getting conflicting information

Oh and just to clarify, I have bought these games legally, however my UMD drive is broken so I can't play the discs, hence the need to play the backups

    Any help appreciated, thanks guys/girls

what type of psp do you have?? if it takes a pandora/mms, then yes you can go back down in cfw...but if your umd drive doesn't work, you can't play the games either way, fix the umd drive and then update at that time (if you can have a pandora/mms hackable psp).

You do need to do what you've stated, upgrade to 6.00 to play them, but to get back to CFW you'll then need a pandora battery.

    I have a PSP 1000 model
I in absolute honesty I have no idea what a pandora battery is.
I did say I was a noob so please don't be -too- harsh

I will have the UMD drive fixed very soon though.
Do I need to buy a new battery/hardware to sort this or just fix the UMD drive and install new firmware?

Sorry, I should be more accurate, I know that pandora batteries exist, as well as MMS but no idea what they do etc.
    Am slightly confused...

since you have a 1000, yes you can update and go back with the pandora battery...a pandora battery is a battery tool that allows you to fix a bricked psp and also used to install cfw. look through the guides section on how it works and also how to make a magic stick...it's always good to have cause then you really don't have to worry when updating, trying new things out too.

i bought mine on amazon.com, def. get 1 and get a 512mb sandisk pro duo to make into magic stick, that's what i use, i also have all my updates on it to get back to my current cfw and hellcats too
