    Hey everyone!
I've been out of the PSP scene for awhile now, but recently with the PSP Go launch i've decided to recharge my PSP fat back up and try to get back into the whole scene.
I tried upgraded my firmware to a custom firmware awhile ago, but obviously i'm alittle behind what everyone's using now-a-days.

My current firmware is 3.52 M33-4. I have an old PSP fat (not slim or 3000) along with the original battery and a 1 gig memory stick.

If you guys would be ever so kind to help me get up to speed. Whats the current custom firmware everyone's using, and with it am I still able to play backup ISO's of my games loaded onto the memory stick? What are the new features and/or disadvantages to the newest CFW.

If someone would be kind enough to spend the time to help me get back upto speed, along with some apps or freeware games that are recommended, I would be deeply in dept. Much appreciation everyone!

    Thanks!

Thanks alot Geek9, but after I have put the installer and 500.PHP in the UPDATE folder, I try to run it in through the XMB and theres a black screen that says "Unpacking... done. Please wait..." but then it does nothing, and just stays on that screen.

Yes I did. I downloaded the 5.00 M3-6 installed along with the official sony update, renamed the update to 500.PHP and stuck it into the update folder, which all went into my PSP/Game folder.

I have read through it several times. My firmware is up to date enough for it to upgrade to 5.00 M33-6. It just remains on "Please wait..." and wont go any further.

I figured out what was wrong. In my configuration menu, I had Game Folder Homebrew set to 1.5, when it should have been set to 3.52.

It would have been more helpful to have just suggested possible factors as to why it didn't work, instead of just making assumptions that I didn't read that post several times over Geek9.

sgt, that post guides you step by step, through, I just didn't feel like walking another person through the update process again
