Currently there is only one disadvantage, and that is you can't currently access the Playstation Store with custom firmware. Apart from that, EVERYTHING works the same, but with all the extra features of CFW.

I apologize in advance if this question has been painfully asked and answered many times, or if I missed a great guide that included it...
What are the advantages and disadvantages of running custom firmware?
Obviously, the major advantage would be unleashing more potential out of your PSP, including but not limited to emulators and homebrew apps/games.
But are there any major disadvantages? Do games run better or worse? Can you still use applications such as internet radio and internet browser?
Thanks in advance for any answers and to whomever fixed my account. I look forward to purchasing my equipment from here as well.

Yes, Media go works with CFW but you need this app:
File Details- -
Download that, then put the VSH .txt into seplugins then finally the VERSION.TXT open it with notepad and make it into 6.10(everytime there is a new update you have to do this)
Media go will now think you have the latest firmware. regardless if you have CFW.

Damn you all are good... Never amazes me what people are able to accomplish...
So ARE there any diadvantages to cfw? I cant think of any

Meh the PSN network sucks anyway. I don't even use it.

and if you crashed the cfw you can povent bricking it with the ofw on a backup dio
