That is what i feared. 99% of cards on ebay are fake i'm afraid. Go to a memory stick icon on your XMB menu and press triangle then X, and tell me what it says for 'Magicgate'.

Ok that confirms it's fake i'm afraid. Real cards will say 'supported'. I would advise contacting the ebay seller, and telling him you know the card is fake, and try and get a refund. If they don't do it, start a dispute with paypal, since trying to pass off fake goods as legit is illegal and against ebay rules.

Well, real cards, aside from the Photofast CR5400 or 3100 will say Supported. The Photofasts will say Unknown, real or not.

Well quite, but he clearly said he bought an MSPD.

That one's fake too then. The thing with fake memory cards is that their negative side effects are generally random, but they all basically end with data corruption on some scale. You got lucky.

Yeah you just get lucky or unlucky with them really. Sometimes they work fine and you'll never know the difference, others have problems.

Just any reputable retailer, for you in the US that'd be Best Buy, WalMart etc. Just places that you know only sell official goods.

Don't buy memory on ebay, or anywhere online that you don't know about the source, IE random "PSP Memory Card" shops, or the like. Just use trusted, known retailers.
