You've got what's known as a semi-brick. One of the flash0 files has been corrupted or flashed badly.
Just recover using the recovery menu.

10-28-2009, 10:41 PM ui think i mightve bricked my PSP 2001 by using Xgen updater from GEN-B(Full) to GEN-C as i used B2 updater and it said it did it i really worried right now
can i use Hellcate Recovery to fix it? or is it not bricked?
it freezes at the screen when i turen it on and displays time date etc.. but freezes right before XMB shows up
