Ok so I have been out of the psp modding for awhile and I could use some help. To give you an idea of how long i have been away, my fat psp has cfw 3.71 m33-3 that i installed when it became available.

Anyway I just bought my son a psp. I am trying to figure out if and how to mod it. I checked the thread about how to tell if its hackable but it didnt really help me. I cant seem to get the ta88v3 identifier to work on my laptop with vista. This is what i do know about the new psp

    Slim
    OFW 5.01
    PSP-3001
    SN AB3437xxxxxx
    Manufactured 09/09

I have my original fat psp with CFW installed, a MMS, and Pandora battery. The pandora battery and MMS will not work with this slim psp but works fine for the older models.

I am thinking that perhaps this is the way I need to try and do it. install-chichhen-3000-5-03-a.html

Will this work or and I pretty much out of luck?

Also what is the "best" firmware to be on now?

    thanks for any help

well yeah, that is basically what you will have to do.
I dont own a 3k, but i think the 5.50 genA-D series may be for the 3k systems too.
    Just something to check into.

    That ChickHEN guide should work. There's 5.00 M33-6, and 5.50 GEN-D

Ok thanks Well i seemed to have gotten myself lost and Should have known it was an A-90 v2 motherboard to begin with. I was missreading the table to find out if it was hackable.

I am a little lost though when it comes to CFW for it. If i understand it right I cant just install a custom firmware but I have to install an enabler? and this is only temporary. If I turn off the psp or battery dies then it has to go through the whole process again?

Yup thats all the hacking has been able to do for the chickhen on the 3k's.
you can put it in sleep mode and it will come back on fine, just leave it in sleep mode and you should be fine.

5.50 GEN isn't for 3Ks, it'll brick with no way to recover it.

CFWEnabler 3.60 is the way to go.
