11-01-2009, 07:00 PM Yes, but can I ask why you're doing that? If it's to use ChickHEN, you'd be better of using one of the downgraders around the 2.x firmwares, they will be easier to use.

Once you get to 1.50 firmware, you can use Hellcats Recovery Flasher to go straight to the latest custom firmware.

I'm totally new to hacking psp. I've just got the psp 1003 3 days ago. I'm realy scared i'm going to mess it all up somehow. So help is very much needed and appricated.

Why would i have to downgrade to 1.5 before installing 5.03 when i can go direcly from 2.0 to 5.03?
Might be a stupid question but like i said im a newb at this.
11-01-2009, 07:19 PM you don't downgrade to 1.50 to install 5.03 you downgrade to 1.5 so that you can run homebrew to install cfw (use this once you're at 1.5 to do that File Details-Recovery-Flasher-v1.60-PSP -) all Pandora freeOriginally Posted by g8xc

11-01-2009, 07:43 PM well you see the original 1.5 firmware was really all there used to be for modding your psp (it had no locks and would run whatever was coded for it) but as the psp developed CFW was developed (it was the sony firmware with no locks and some special files such as UMD drivers built in for ISO running) so guides starting coming around to either downgrade to 1.5 or install a cfw from a certain firmware, but at 3.50 sony blocked pretty much all downgrade methods, but it was okay because the pandora and mms was leaked and for about 2 years was the only way to install cfw if you were above 3.5 (or had a slim) that is until a TIFF exploit was found and then you could use hellcats recovery flasher to install cfw and thus sorta became the new standard non pandora way
