    hi
I'm new here and I don't know a lot about upgrading or downgrading a psp
so I let somebody upgrade my psp
that was done with a UMD from luminess or something like that and it was upgraded to 3.40 OE-A and untill now I didn't have any problems and I have a lot of games that work well with this firmware
but now I want to play gran turismo and it doesn't work
I'm reading a lot about the new firmware but there are so many of them that I don't know which one to upgrade to and what I need to be able to play gran turismo
and if I upgrade my psp will I still be able to play my other games
    hope somebody can help

follow this guide and then use hellcats recovery flasher to update to 5.00m33-6 and u can then decrypt the games to be playable or update to 5.50gen-D2.

False. 3.52M33-4 is the lowest firmware you can be on that allows you to update directly to 5.00M33. Don't tell him to update from 3.40OE-a directly to 5.50GEN-D.

I'd encourage you to read the rules for the forum. They're pretty straightforward and there aren't many of them. http://www.pspmod.com/forums/introdu...uncements.html

Slowman is correct 3.40 OE is an old game, if you read the readme in that update pack the lowest recommend firmware is 3.52m33, follow goku's guide and then do the 5.50 update

    thanks Geek...

follow that guide to a T though...once on 3.52m33 cfw, i have all necessary links in my sig to install you desired levels. i'm not totally 100% sure on the jumping to 5.50gen-D with the installer from that low of firmware, i'd still go with hellcats to 5.00m33-6 and then run the GEN installer...then quick updater with Gen-D2

let us know if you need anything else on the updating/s...

I try to follow the guide but when I try the download button for the installer pack it redirects me to another site and I can't find it

sorry...here's the m33 creator you need:
    4shared.com - online file sharing and storage - download 3.52 M33 CFW pack www.igizmore.blogspot.com.rar

so that starts off at step 2 on that guide, this will be the 3.52m33-4 update for the step after....

i wouldn't brick you man lol...i checked those links for ya before posting since the 1st failed...

ok, download the hellcats from my sig
download the 500.pbp file from my sig

extract the hellcats files...you're only concerned about the "recovery" folder
place the 500.pbp file into the "recovery" folder
place the "recovery" folder into your game folder: psp>game>recovery
ok, now restart your psp into recovery mode (power down completely by holding up the power button, restart while holding R)
go to configurations, make sure it's set to 3xx kernel, not, NOT 1.5 kernel

now go to your games, after you set the kernel and exit...run hellcats like any other game
it should say target firmware 5.00
then under it, it should say install m33 version of selected
then install it...also choose it to reset your defaults for best installation

let us know how you do...it's fairly easy and quick

edit...this will put you at 5.00m33-6...let me know if you want to go to 5.50 gen-D2 and i'll walk you through that as well, very easy

    now I'm running 5.00 m33-6
what's the difference between the 5.00 that I'm running and th 5.50 gen d2 that you are running
    is it necessary or not

good shit man, glad it worked! don't delete hellcats, very, very handy app to keep around...
honestly the difference is that i don't have to decrypt my newer games anymore, this firmware that i'm on does it for me automatically...other than that, nothing really different at all...i like it

but click on the "general" tab...killer made a sticky there on top, how to make them playable...check it out and see what you want to do based on your psp needs
if you do/did update to my level and don't like it, guess what, hellcats just like you did and bang, you're back on 5.00m33-6!

I must say that I got what I wanted because now gran turismo works but while I'm upgrading it I might as well upgrade it to the 5.50 gen d2
is it easy to do and I removed hellcats from my psp but saved it on to my computer so if I need it I can acces it

yeah man it's easy...you wanna go for it, do this then:

download the installer labeled D in my sig...says use 1st
place that in your game folder like anything else, let it run, install and reboot
then download the D2 updater in my sig, run it just the same as you've been doing, it's a quick updater and will go fast...that's it! lol

check your system settings after and should say "5.50gen-D2"

edit...it does contain a readme...but just place the 550 file, rename it to this 1st: 550.pbp, in the root of your memory stick (that's where you see the seplugins folder, psp folder...just place it there in the open with those folders, not in any of them)
