Yes i chose to format
Card is real 4Gb Magic Gate supported
Im on Windows 7 64bit
MSPformat was required last time to move the partition and its failing here in Rains IPL MStool so im booting up a virtual XP and going to try it in there.
I think i should have not formatted as the partition was already correct.

hmmm, well i know this program runs on windows 7...ok, let me know what happens with the other route you're going and we'll see what's up.

yeap, im going to have dinner while XP installs so ill be back to report in around 30mins

no problem.

OK
I didnt document all my actions, but i got it to work.
Get into XP SP3
Format through PSP
Format with Rains IPL MStool MSPformat method
Erase IPL
Write TM IPL
And then it worked, well i think thats how it worked.
Now i have the green boot menu when holding L, to Test M33.
Next up load up 6.20OFW

sweet deal bro...if you get any problems updating through network, use the mms to install 5.00 ofw and then network update...
let me know how you like it.

I did manual update to 6.20 OFW and all is well. PS3 remote play works over the net and is surprisingly good at streaming 320kbps mp3's lol
Only downside so far, ive lost my GT PSP save =( It says corrupt. Still got a backup of it so might play with it later to try and make it work.
How come we can only have "Test Mode" of 5.00M33 -4, can we not mod it to m33-6 or even have the menu use 5.50 GEN-D3 in "Test Mode"?

cause that's how dc8 works off of...m33-6 is the same except it has the speed up memory stick option, that's the only difference.
not sure on the save corruption though...i've never gotten that error, ever lol, i'm lucky with that compared to many for some reason.

I've tried this tutorial now several times and Rains mms program keep saying that it can't format the memory card. I've tried it trough both my slim and phat using several different cards and always get the same result.
I have used a mms before to install CFW so I know it should work.
Is there another way to prepare the mms manually or something?
you tried other memory cards too none of them will format?? even when you try to format them on the psp's????
i can't see how that's possible with more than 1 card and none will format, are they real cards or are they fake?? i tell you how to check in the beginning of the guide before performing the operations.
get back to me.

I can format them on the PSP and I can format them using Vista or XP's format function, but when I tick "format" in Rains MMS tool it won't work.
I've tried formatting the memory cards on the slim ant then skipping the format-option in Rains tool but the memory card won't boot.
Now I read somewhere that I may have to format the card in the PSP fat or using MSPformat for it to work as the slim formats the card differently...
My fat is broken but still working though... the power button is busted and the volume and brigtness keeps jumping all the time but It's still alive.
The cards are genuine and I've formatted several of them to MMS when the Pandora-hack came out so that's not the problem. I've even tried an old card that was ready for installing 4.xx M33 and it works.
I'll experiment some more when I get home from work.
ok, then you can try using the psp themselves...if they have custom firmware on them already that is...
click on my gen guide, scroll to the bottom part and use psp tool to make the mms...

Thanks for the help!
PSP Tool did the trick and now it's working :-)
