Cannot update to 5.03? What's wrong? Need help!

Hi there,

I was trying to update my psp firmware from 4.05 to 5.03 inorder to use the ChickHEN.

But something's wrong. I copied the file "EBOOT.PBP" into "PSP/GAME/UPDATE" and run it on my psp. But I stopped here:

And nothing happened even I waited 30 minutes or hours.

I have tried to download the 5.03 update from many many sources.

I also formated my memory stick.

What's wrong? Can anybody help, please!

I think my psp has some problems, because when I tried to start Pspident to check what is my psp motherboard, it also stopped at that stage (image above)

Anyone know what's wrong? It looks like my psp cannot launch application huh?

Well, putting the EBOOT.PBP file in the PSP/GAME/UPDATE folders doesn't work on Official Firmware from what I know... I would recommend you to try updating by selecting the option ''Network Update''. I've never done it, so if you can select which firmware you want to install then do it. If not, then DON'T!! IT WILL TAKE YOU TO OFFICIAL FIRMWARE 6.20! Then, you won't be able to downgrade...

CHeck to see if your mem stick is real

On your xmb goto pictures under that on memory stick press triangle button and then information, does it say magic gate supported?

have you tried to download the firmware from this site? i have upgraded my PSP to 5.03 using the file from this site.

Also I take it you are running official firmware and not custim firmware?

Hi Firion, I'm sure it will take me to OFW 6.20, so I wont do it.

Hi Ninja88, I tried that file first, not working. And MagicGate Supported.

have you tried to download the firmware from this site? i have upgraded my PSP to 5.03 using the file from this site.

Yes, I'm running OFW 4.05. And where can I find the firmware from this site? I cant find it in download section.

Are you sure your PSP is unhackable? From the pic it looks like a Vader one and all Vader PSPs are hackable.

My psp model is 2002 and firmware is OFW 4.05, and yes, It's maybe hackable.

Now I just update it to 5.03 in order to do the next step of hacking.

But I'm stuck!!!

Try updating using another mem stick , or get a pandora battery +mms and see if your psp responds to that.

Pspident is a homebrew / tool. It will only run under 5.03 Hen / MHU or cfw. It will not run in Ofw.
