What PSP model do you own? If it's a PSP 1000 or 2000, you should upgrade to 6.38 ME. There's an option to boot-up to 6.38 OFW. So, there's no need for PSNLover.

Boot up into recovery and go to "configuration", now scroll down to "Fake region" and set it to "Disable"

6.38 ME is a permanent CFW, like 5.50 Prome-4. Although, it has the option to boot into 6.38 OFW for online play/PSN. I'm on this CFW, and my back-ups run flawlessly.
