    Hey Guys,

Yet another noob (me) asking stupid/redundant questions. In my defense, the search function isn't providing the results I'm looking for, nothing comes up when I search "3.40"

I need some guidance on proper procedure for upgrading my CFW to the latest and greatest. I have an original Phat that I've had since Launch. Things have changed since my last mod, the PSP mod scene is overwhelmingly more complicated than it was in the past. Back then, all you had to do is run lumines, downgrade, upgrade, and you're done. Now there are, pandora batteries, MMS, recovery flashers, etc., none of this stuff existed back when I updated to CFW 3.40 EO-A.

    My question is/are:

    1. do I still need to downgrade to 1.50 to upgrade to the most recent CFW? I am currently running 3.40 OE-A on my Phat. Or is it a series of upgrades from my current state to the latest CFW? Or is it a single jump from 3.40 oe-a to "latest"?

What is the latest/best CFW? Based off reading Pirate's "PSP Modding made easy" thread, I think it's 6.60ME-1.3, is this correct?

If so, would the correct steps to take from this point be to update directly to 5.00 m33 using the Hellcats Recovery Flasher? From 5.00 m33 jump to 6.60MEv1? Is this correct?

This is the link to the guide I am following regarding the Hellcats Recovery.
    forums/psp-software-guides/59222-guide-how-use-hellcats-recovery-flasher.html

Thanks guys for any advice you can give. Sorry if this has already been covered before in a previous thread. The search function wasn't yielding the results I was looking for.

    -render

    p.s.

Much Props to Pirate for making the "PSP Modding made easy" Thread — it definitely helped explain the current state of the PSP Scene, it's been at least 4 or 5 years since I was here last.

    p.p.s.

WTF does this mean? I found this on Slowman's Global PSPMod Rules, the last bullet in the rules. I know it's english, but it just doesn't make any sense.

To upgrade to the most recent CFW you must first upgrade your OFW to this
6.60 OFW - Downloads - Sony PSP MODS and Hacks Forumsdownload that and Place the EBOOT.PBP in PSP>GAME>UPDATE the UPDATE folder usually isn't there so you have to create it
when you are done with that post here again and I will tell you what you need to do next
    PSP's I own:
    PSP-1001 6.60 MEv1.6

    Hacked PSP's:
    Phat: 9
    Slim: 15+
    Brite: 7
    Go: 3

    1. no you don't need to upgrade to 1.50 just so you can get to latest firmware kernel.

    2. today, i would say the best is either 6.60ME-1.6/6.39ME-9.7 (they too are the latest).

    3. procedure:
    > Hellcat's Recovery flasher (grab the one on my psp utility zone on my sig, already includes "500.pbp" file inside RECOVERY folder)
    > Update to 6.60 ofw via system update or grab installer on my firmwall
    > use ofw version of ME_installer then use system update to get the latest release or get latest ME & LME installer from the firmwall.
