So... I fruited up installing an old-a$$ update on my phat psp, (1.5 kernel... just so I could try n play super mario war homebrew [not worth it:-)])... I did so by using a pandora battery + mms, but it errored, and left the psp in a bricked state. I used some crap I found (in an archive called "the file you need.rar"?) and extracted the files to my memory card, using a memory card reader... and it *sorta* helped, now the psp boots the xmb. It's at v3.71. it doesn't say "m33", or ANYthing after the version in system info.

Problem: I then attempted to update to 6.60 over wifi. it dl'ed, then errored, can't remember the error, but then I tried downloading from my pc. It errored again:-/ I then popped in a UMD with 6.31 on it (god of war), and it ERRORED AGAIN!!! WTF?!?! how can you get error 80020321 from a stinkin' UMD???

some other interesting stuff: the update would start, then, before it even got to 1%, it would pop up an error window, "the disc cannot be read bla bla press x to continue reading" and show error 80020321, then it would show a different error. Then a different error. I gave up, needless to say.

This is driving me NUTSO, and yes, I've been googling for answers, although idk what exactly to search for. I am going crazy:-|

I just wanna get to the newest ofw, for cryin' out loud... then I know how to install everything on my own... any help?

i think you got error because your firmware is from 3.71 when you unbrick it ? then when your updating to 6.60 or 6.31 because of your current version.

Try this, download Hellcats from here Hotfile.com: One click file hosting: Hellcat Recovery Flasher.rar copy the RECOVERY folder to your PSP/GAME folder then run it . select 5.00 after that try updating to 6.60 using your wifi

you know, I heard of that hellcats thing, and that's one of the only things I haven't tried... Downloading now. hopefully this'll do the trick....

Ps thanks for the help peeps I never ask for help, this is prolly the first posting I've ever made on a forum asking for help!

EDIT: ...and "The game could not be started. (80020148)"... It seems I cannot run ANY applications, somehow... the pandora thingy works, but I'm not knowledgeable enough to figure that out...

This dun did it!!! Thanks, so so SO much!!!

Basically just did what he suggested, using "test M33", by popping in the battery, while holding L trigger, which went to a menu, and selected test m33, then it loaded an apparently "live" version of the modded firmware. (BTW couldn't use the menu to straight-up install the cfw OR ofw, it errored at arround 49%), then tried updating via wifi, which errrored (I think it was using "use m33 network update" option or something...) BUT all worked when I popped in that UMD, after recharging the stupid pandora battery, which was at like 18%... anyway it updated

Some things which I just realized might've helped to know (sorry...):
    - I was using one of those Microsd-to-MS adapters
    - The microsd card I was using, it is afaik a 2GB that has been reflashed as 512MB... wtf didn't they just keep it as 2GB I'll never understand...

I've been all depressed and stuff, til now, even though I wasn't about to pour any amount of moolah into this thing, it was annoying as heck.

so thanks to all who participated
