    Ok so I've got my hands on a red psp 2001 (The red God of War version) and I want to know how to hack it. I've read the guides but to be honest some of it is still going way over my head. The software version is 6.00 and I don't know the mobo version as of yet as I still need to get a memory stick but should have one in the next few days. But for now consider that I have both the option of doing it via cfw or lfw. My questions are;

To put cfw on it would I need to buy a pandora battery like this one and then roll back the official firmware already on it and then proceed to follow the cfw steps?

To put lfw on it do I just need to update it to the newest ofw and then proceed from there?

Are there any advantages to cfw over lfw other than the fact it doesn't have to be rebooted everytime the psp is turned on, i.e. are there homebrew programs, types of games etc. that a psp modded with lfw can't run?

And lastly for someone with zero experience with stuff like this is one a lot easier than the other or are they both manageable?

just follow the steps below to install cfw on it. its pretty easy

First you need to update to 6.60 OFW and the install the CFW. To update you can either do it yourself or you can do network update on the psp.

Heres how you do it. If your already on 6.60 OFW skip these steps. Also skip if you are going to do system update from the XMB. Just go ahead and update either way to
    6.60 OFW.

    1. Download this :
6.60 OFW - 6.Downloads - Sony PSP MODS and Hacks Forums and extract it and have it handy.
    2. Now plug the psp into the usb on your computer and open the PSP folder and then the GAME folder and create a folder named UPDATE and put the 660 eboot in there.
    3. Now exit out of the USB and go to the psp and go to GAME and run that update. That should put you on 6.60 OFW.

    Now to install the CFW.

When you go back to the game folder on the psp delete the UPDATE folder I told you to make.

    1. Download this:
6.60ME-1.6 (OFW Version) - Downloads - Sony PSP MODS and Hacks Forums and extract that.
    2. Place the "me_installer" into your "GAME" folder on your memory stick .
    3. Then go run that on the psp like you did the update and you should be good to go

Great so does that mean I won't have to buy a pandora battery or anything? and will that version of cfw be able to do just as much as the rest?

Sorry for posting in another's thread but will this also allow use of RemoteJoy as well? If so, i think this already solved what I was going to ask!

Edit: Forgot to say that I'm using a PSP-3000 using 6.35 and I currently have 6.35 HEN as well.

Remote joy is an unsigned homebrew and requires cfw to work.
while its possible to get remote joy to work on 6.35 HEN, i recommend you update to 6.60 LME 1.8.
its there in my guide, section 8 with steps to upgrade to it.

you will need a pandora battery. Goto my guide section 2 to create a mms using rains.then goto section 3 and follow the first part 'hackable psps' to unbrick.
