psp 1004 how to custom?

Hi, good to be aboard, been looking to put custom firmware on psp, keep getting conflicting info, or maybe it is just I am old, and thick, but anyway here I go, I have a psp 1004, the firmware on it is 3.11, I was told to get, a pandora battery, a pro duo stick, and a 16 gig card, have gust got all 3, and downloaded cfw 620 pro, can someone help make it simple from here?, do I need to update sony software to 620 first? don't wan't to just keep asking questions, have done a lot of reading, and getting help from guy's, but it all starts getting conflicting info.

any help would be grateful.

Hi Jimlan,

There is indeed a lot of conflicting and outdated information about this. I just recently got into this myself, but I'll try and help you out.

Seeing as you have a PSP 1000 model (the different numbers at the end just mean where it was shipped to, for instance, a 1001 means its from the US.) Yours is fully hackable. However, you don't require a Pandora battery anymore like you did back in the day. It's advanced to the point of basically installing like Official Firmware. However, even though you don't NEED a pandora battery, it's a nice thing to have in case your PSP gets bricked for some reason.

Anyway, here's how you install the newest Custom Firmware (CFW for short) Also, I don't recommend using the Pandora battery for this, it might screw something up, so use your regular battery.

1. Turn on your psp and make sure the A/C adapter is plugged in (Just in case :P) and go all the way to left where all the settings are, then scroll all the way up to system update, and update it to the newest Official Firmware (OFW for short). which would be 6.60 (It will choose this automatically) Be sure to delete the updater off your PSP after it's done (It's in the GAME folder).

2. Once this is done, make sure your memory card is formatted from the PSP, and download the latest CFW, which is 6.60 ME 1.6

3. Once downloaded, extract it's contents with either Winrar or 7Zip. and put the folder named UPDATE inside of the GAME folder on your PSP's Memory card.

4. Turn on the PSP and go to the game section, inside of it should be the installer for the Custom Firmware. Click it and accept any things it asks you. After that a black screen with some text should come up and ask you to press X to install, press it and it should begin. After it's done it will automatically restart the PSP.

5. You're done! Your CFW should now be installed! Now if you want, you can go to the update section like you did to get it to 6.60 OFW and it will automatically update it to 6.60 ME 1.8 the same way you installed 1.6.

6. If you download PSP .ISOs, be sure to put them in the ISO folder on your PSP (the CFW creates it automatically) and NOT the game folder. That's all you need to start playing!

if while running the 6.60 ofw update and you get an error try downloading 5.00 ofw update and apply that first then run 6.60 ofw update.

buddy, i checked out your channel.

But the guy(pranav) has an unhackable psp and cfw 5.00 m33-6 is of absolutely no use to him.

That guy could've got a brick now if he tried to install 5.00 m33. So what i'm trying to say is that do not post blindly. If you have some doubt as to any problem then it is better not to post.
