Hey all. I'm new to this forum as well as the site....so i am sorry for asking this noob question. This question may help others too!
I have PSP - 2001 PB slim and Lite which the shop keeper(or the person at that shop) upgraded to CFW 5.50 GEN-D3 somehow. My questions are:
    1. Is this CFW good and stable as compared to others? Or is there any other version higher that this which is better?
    2. Is there any need for upgrading my CFW to a higher one?
    3. Which is the latest, best and stable version for my PSP model?
    4. Please explain me on how to upgrade my PSP's CFW to the latest one without causing any brick to it as it will be my first time I am upgrading it.

I 'm really sorry for asking such a noob question. Please do answer me.

    Regards
    Amal

    1. Not good and no stable. Not good in reasons of it's outdated and old, therefore unable to run latest games. Unstable by means of plugins and homebrews. (in instance you decided to run some on your psp). You are more likely to run latest games so i recommend updating to 6.60.

    2. If you're going to run ISO (game back up image), then you should have a cfw installed.

    3. 6.60 ME/PRO

    4. to have it updated to latest:
    go here FaustNero
follow gen bypass guide on the guide tab.
update via system update on the psp's settings menu
grab cfw (also can be grab from the blog site)
    run it on your psp.

The shopkeeper as I mentioned above said that sony would detect that my PSP is having CFW and it will cause a brick. So are you sure updating it using the 'Network Update' or something like that will NOT cause a brick? I'm afraid, that is why I keep asking...! Sorry..!

Thank you very much for replying buddy!

So let me tell once again. Tell me if I'm wrong.
    1. Do the GEN bypass as mentioned on Faustnero's blog.
    2. Do a network update and update to OFW.
    3. Download the 6.60 CFW.
Now where do I put that downloaded CFW on my PSP? Which folder? ISO or just on the psp's memory?
And then select that 6.60 CFW and click X and install it, right?

Also, which one is better? 6.60 ME or 6.60 PRO? Please reply friends...! BTW, thanks for replying to my last posts...!

Once your on 6.60, use this:6.60ME-1.8 (OFW Version) - Downloads - PSPMOD.com - PSP / PS Vita Forums to install 6.60ME-1.8. Un-zip the download and place the "me_installer" folder into your GAME folder in your memory stick. The GAME folder is in the PSP folder

So before I update to 6.60 OFW, shouldn't I do the GEN bypass? Then do the OFW upgrade using Network update.
Another question - Which one should I download and put on the GAME folder?
    6.60ME-1.8 (OFW Version) - Downloads - PSPMOD.com - PSP / PS Vita Forums or 6.60ME-1.8 - Downloads - PSPMOD.com - PSP / PS Vita Forums
    Please reply.

Hey El Guapo! I tried doing the network update through psp but there is some error - 20000006 or something. So please tell me how to do the update manually. Then upgrading to cfw 6.60 1.8 ME from there. Also should I backup all my data and games before I upgrade?

Also after the update to 6.60 OFW, which one should I download and put in the GAME folder? 6.60 ME 1.8 (OFW version) or 6.60 ME 1.8? Also what is the difference between both the files?
