I know this site is all about modding and running hombebrew but i ahve decided that it is probably to complicated for my son and am jsut going to stick with the unit as is plus its a ta-82

no i was able to dload the loco roco demo but it seems like all the other demos i found require 2.8 so since at this time i wont be running any homebrew am i safe to just use the network update feature

also not sure if it matters i did install and have henc and devhook running sony wont detect this when i update will they

and one more thing i know nobody has a crystal ball but i didnt see a 2.8 donwgrader anywhere if i upgrade is it done with no homebrew or downing for me ever ?

you saw correct, 2.8 can not be downgraded... so once you go to the light side, you can't come back to the dark.

The closest you can get to running homebrew is 2.71 which can emulate 1.5 firmware (should you want to). I wasn't aware that the demo requires 2.8. Thats silly since the game requires 2.71 (if you were to buy it).

I guess it's sonys way of forcing everyone to stay upgraded.

If you update, your HEN-C and devhook will no longer work. Format your memory stick and Sony won't be able to tell though

2.8 has no flash access... *cough*

there is no devhook since booster would be sued or worst by sony if he releases a new public devhook.
the onl hope its new devhook with anonimous developer and released in a personal blog or in a not important web.

"Hi, we are the Sony Patrol, and we were in your area doing routine memory stick inspections. Sir, I'm gonna have to ask that you refrain from using homebrew or we will have to increase the price of the PS3 by another $600."
