Assuming you have completed the steps successfully in this thread: http://www.pspmod.com/forums/showthread.php?t=9004 (Weird Locales?),

AND you have DevHook 0.45 with HEN-C already running successfully on FW 2.71.

First make sure you have all the required files.

    Step 1. – Installing the 1.5 firmware.
Extract the contents of the 1.5 firmware to your hard drive.
Copy the folders flash0 and flash1 and the file reboot.bin to the directory
    \dh\150\ on your memory stick.

    Step 2. – Installing HEN-D
Extract the files in the hend rar file.
You will see a directory called MS_ROOT. Open that directory and copy everything inside that directory to the ROOT of your memory card.
If the process asks you if you want to replace the files, just say “Yes to all”.
Now go back one directory up, so that you are once again in the directory where you can see MS_ROOT and the directory DEVHOOK. Enter the devhook directory and copy all these files also to the ROOT of your memory stick. Once again, if it asks to replace files, hit “Yes to all”.

Now start up your PSP and go to the PHOTO menu.
You will probably have there now both HEN-C and HEN-D.
    Startup HEN-D.
Just like the installation of HEN-C, you will see a green screen if everything is ok, and a blue screen followed by a reboot.

    HEN-D is now installed.

Step 3. – Booting the emulated 1.5 firmware.
    Start HEN-D.
Wait for it to show you the blue screen and reboot.
Next you will need to start up Devhook 4.x launcher for 2.71
You will see a small menu with some options, under firmware make sure that you select 1.50
Now, select “start” from the main menu and your screen should turn black.
Devhook will start loading the 1.5 firmware files. You can confirm this by checking the light of your memory stick. It should flash.
Next you will see a screen that says something like “Game could not be started”.
This doesn’t matter. Ignore it, you should now be in an emulated 1.5 environment.
Go to system settings and double check to see if it displays 1.5

    Step 4. – Installing Devhook 0.51
Extract the contents of DH0510000.rar to your hard drive.
Enter the MS_ROOT directory, and copy the fbm and PSP folder to the ROOT of your memory stick.
If it asks you to overwrite, say “Yes to all”.
There is another directory in there, called dh.
Enter that directory and copy the directories 05, 05beta, 280, 282, and 301 to the \dh\ directory on your memorystick.

    Step 5. – Copying the 3.01 firmware.
Rename the file update 3.01.pbp to EBOOT.PBP and copy it to the root of your memory stick.

Extract the contents of the file 301_DH_FW_INSTALLER.rar to your hard drive.
Copy both folders; "%__SCE__301_dh_fw_installer" and "%__SCE__301_dh_fw_installer" to your \PSP\GAME\ directory.

Now go into the GAME option on your PSP, select memory stick and start the 3.01 DH FW Installer.
Wait until the loading screen is done, and hit X and wait until it reboots.

    Step 6. – Installing Devhook 0.51 for 2.71
Extract the contents of devhook051_271.rar to your hard drive.
Enter the MS_ROOT directory and copy everything in here to the ROOT of your memory stick.
When it asks to overwrite, say yes.

You should now have both versions of Devhook.

    Step 7. – Running the 3.01 Firmware.
Start Devhook 0.51 for 2.71 and select “Flash install”.
    Select “Install configfile to flash1”.
In the next screen select “O” for more than 1 second to accept the terms.
Wait until you see “Press any key to continue” and press a key.

Now select 3.01 firmware in the firmware menu and after that select “start” from the main menu.

You should now be going into the 3.01 emulation.
Double check this by going to the system settings.

Step 8. – PSP usage while playing a game that requires 2.8 or higher
    - Start HEN-D. Wait for the reboot.
    - After the reboot go to your GAME menu and then memory stick.
    - Select “Devhook 0.51 for 2.71
    - Select “Flash install”.
    - Select “Install configfile to flash1”.
    - In the next screen select “O” for more than 1 second to accept the terms.
    - Wait until you see “Press any key to continue” and press a key.
    - Make sure that the firmware is set to 3.01 and that you select your ISO/CSO image.
    - Press start.
    - Now you should boot into 3.01
    - However, you will not see an UMD in the GAME menu.
    - Insert an original UMD disc.
    - Now you will see in the GAME menu “UMD”.
    - When you “hover” over it, you will already see the intro of the ISO/CSO you select earlier.
    - Start the UMD to start your image…

*** I performed all these steps myself, however since that was yesterday and I am writing this from memory there might be some chronological errors in the steps ***

One thing just bothers me, will the older ISOs and CSOs still work with the .51? Older games such as my GTA:LCS and Such... I don't want to end up with a PSP that'll only play MGS:PO and that's it.

I'm all chickensh!t about it coz I hear .51 still has a few bugs.

you will still have the "old" devhook installed, so you can always use that.
And also, even when you emulate 3.01, that can also run the older games.
Think about it, if someone would upgrade to 3.01, he/she can also run all the older games.

same thing happened here, i installed everything and when i choose FW3.01 it reboots with the same old FW i was using.

PS: it would be better if someone that actually made it work, could wrap it up on a intall once package. I have a ta82 w/FW2.71, and i happened to find a package like this for devhook .44 including FW 2.71 and 1.5 dumps already on them, it would be REALLY nice if someone could do that for this. that way you also remove everything you wont need like HENC and some other files. I would do it, but i couldnt manage to make it work myself yet.

It is not possible to make an install at once package.
To distribute the 1.5 firmware like that is not allowed.
And also, the 3.01 firmware needs to be installed manually, since you can't use someone elses dump.

The steps you need to follow to boot into 3.01:

first try a hard reset, in powered down mode, hold the power switch
until the PSP starts up, keep it pressed, and the PSP will turn off again.
Now turn it on like normal.

start HEND from the PHOTO menu.
Your PSP will show you a blue screen and reboot.
    Now launch devhook0.51 for 2.71
    Select “Flash install”.
    Select “Install configfile to flash1”.
In the next screen select “O” for more than 1 second to accept the terms.
Wait until you see “Press any key to continue” and press a key.
Select 3.01 firmware from the firmware menu
Select Start from the main menu
Your screen will turn black while loading the 3.01 firmware.
Then you will see a red screen that belongs to 3.01 with a "different"kind of devhook menu.

    strange.
The version as it appears in my memorystick:
    DEVHOOK 0.51 BETA for 2.71
You should use that one, if you get a game error, it sounds like HEND did not run properly,
try a hard reset and run HEND again.

btw: As far as I know, DEVHOOK 0.51 (without the 2.71) should not run on your PSP in 2.71.

thats exactly what im doing, i followed those exact steps, this is what happens step by step:
first, when i run hend after the blue screen and reboot, if i go to system settings/info the version is 2.71 HEN-D. so for me, this means HEND IS running.
second, the Firmware installer for 3.01 im running it under HEND and it gives me an error after the sony splash screen stating the game could not run (is this ok?)
third, still when i run devhook .50 for 2.71 i ran the installer and im not able to see the press any key message, instead it seems to stop installing and if i press any key it goes back to the devhook menu (ok?, no?)
fourth, the only changes im doing after this is the firmware to 3.01 and then selecting the iso, when it reboots, im still running fw 2.71 HEN-D
