Firmware Installed: 3.82 M33-5&4.01m33-2

Default Step By Step Popsloader Installation Guide

strange. maybe somebody (cheema201) can help me with what I'm about to say.

I never downloaded popsloader
I never put seplugins on my root.

infact I didn't even know you could run PS1 games on PSP till I downloaded castlevania from my ps3. so then I made iso and coverted them to eboots to see if they worked. and then popsloader logo popped up and then it worked. and I thought... how strange. what's that?

I just checked my root and sure enough seplugins is there. but still I never did anything with plugins in recovery mode. all I did there was set it to filter out currupt files and skip sony intro.

so why do I have pops loader? did it come with an m33 update. I have 4.01m332 and then I downloaded and applied the 1.50 kernal

I clicked on this because i saw the link on cheema201's signature. and I was like... you have to install that?

so. I'd like some answeres. first. why is it I did nothing and yet I have popsloader?
and second. if I do what cheema201 says to do will it work better. or did I somehow get it automaticly done without even realizing it. it's strange i just tested it out on my other PSP and it doesn't have pops loader. and I did them both exactly the same. only difference is I didn't download any ps1 games from my ps3 and the firmware is 3.82m33-5 on that one.

I'd really like to know. because if my psp isn't playing my ps1 games the best it could. I'd like to know. I haven't noticed any flaws. infact I think the graphics are proccessed better on my psp than on my ps1. but it could be just the smaller highres screen.

I may seem stupid for writting all this but I am a n00b. just because I've modded 3 psp's doesn't mean I know everything. I just means I know how to follow instructions I read from this site.

Firmware Installed: CFW 4.01M33-2

Default Step By Step Popsloader Installation Guide

I'm running 4.01 m33 FW.
I downloaded the eboot.PBP from Dark Alex's site and it says error reading EBOOT.PBP. When I downloaded 25,000 KB EBOOT.PBP from the link you provided It says file too large recompile.

I understand the guide well enough to follow the step by step I'm just hung up on the EBOOT.PBP thing. Maybe I'm just too much of a noob. Let me know what you think I should do. Thanks !!!

BTW First post.

did you rename the eboot it had trouble reading to 401.PBP. instead of just keeping it as EBOOT.PBP?

Youre profile information says that you have firmware "3.6". That is an original firmware, you will need custom firmware for this to work. Check the guides sections for a Pandoras battery & MMS guide, and how to install CFW.

And their way is fine, if u simply want to install the plugin and not use it... I think that they were mislead into thinking that popsloader is only a 5 minute application wen it is infact a little time consuming to install properly...

Thankyou to everyone who has supported me in writing this guide..
for it will be my inspiration to the start of many more 'step by step' guides
No worries cheema, I'm glad you were able to get this great guide together and explain to me the difference between what I thought was the complete popsloader and the real thing

I tried renaming them to 401.PBP but then it just says cannot find EBOOT.PBP. Any ideas ?

Update:
I believe I'm going to make it I have enabled popsloader plugins and just by that alone I've been able to play EBOOT.PBP games. I'm having trouble with Metal Gear Solid for PSX disc 2 loads but not disc 1 and there both in the sane EBOOT.PBP file. Oh well. thanks for the help.

Are you trying to dump the files from 4.01?? because that is pointless... u can run 4.01 pops from ur popsloader menu by selecting 'original from flash' if you have updated to 4.01.. and the only pops that popsloader will run are between 3.00 and 3.72 (plus ur current firmware) so there is currently no way to run 3.80 and 3.90 pops from 4.01... however you really shouldn't need them as most games will successfully run between 3.00 and 3.72 or on 4.01 as it has a great popstation

it sounds to me like you are talking about POPSTATION and not POPSLOADER.. people often get these 2 mixed up... you can play psx games on 4.01 without installing popsloader... if you read the guide it explains wat popsloader is...

Well popsloader is a way of playing PSX (playstation 1) games on the latest custom firmware that needed an earlier firmware version... For example if you wanted to play a game which was considered best on 3.71 then you could play that game on firmware 4.01m33-2 using popsloader...

Hey. FF7 doesn't need popsloader to load right?
So yeah, I got it to load till the New Game and Continue part.

When I select New Game, the screen just goes black.

Any ideas and solutions for this?
Much appreciated

Sidetrack: This is one hell of a guide which totally rocks!

EDIT: Hey it's working with 3.71 popsloader!
But still any suggestions why the need for popsloader?
Cause apparently, a lot of people say it is not needed for FF7.
Or...am I wrong? hahaha!

EDIT2: Okay. You can continue games with 4.01M33-2 but you can't start a new game cause it'll just freeze.
Any ideas?

I am not 100% sure why you are getting this problem... perhaps it is because of the program you are using to convert to eboot. I use the NTSC version of FF7 so it could be a problem if you are using PAL...

or it could be because you have created a multi disc eboot?? (which i think only works on 3.71)

either way if u can not get FF7 working on 4.01 then you should be able to load it on 3.71... (i run 4.01 however load most of my games off earlier pops as they seem to run some games better... even tho 4.01 will play most games.. it will not play them all perfect)
