Default Swapping DPAD and Analog Controls Tutorial

Do you want to swap your stock DPAD and put it where the analog stick is and put your analog stick(replaced with a full sized analog stick) where the DPAD was? Well wiring the analog stick to a regular full size analog stick isn't hard. Google Ben Heck for his tutorial, it's pretty good. But everyone has trouble with wiring the DPAD port on the mobo because the contacts are TOO SMALL and theres not that much SPACE. Well I came up with a way to solve that problem. You will never be able to hook up the stock ribbon DPAD again. You've been warned.

First off the DPAD connector on the mobo is built to minimize space so therefore you won't have that much room to work with. From that, the only way to solder wires to it is going at it from the left side (mobo faced regularly). That might be fine for wiring the L trigger and L DPAD. But for the remaining controls, it can be a pain in the ass. FYI you can ground anywhere on the board so I will not be talking about wiring the ground.

First off remove the ribbon clamp

Second take a fine needlenose and destroy the 2 metal connectors that are holding the connector there located at TOP RIGHT and BOTTOM RIGHT.

Don't do this (pic below), don't go directly over the pin connections as you will risk taking out pin connections.

After you remove the 2 metal connectors, simply slide off the plastic connector but be careful not to take out any connections. You will then be left with .25 inch connections to each of the DPAD pins and can EASILY wire up your custom DPAD with ease. I prefer removing those pins because I just don't like them-just my preferance.

Hope you find this informative to those who are interested. Happy modding.
