Oh, I'm with you there blackrok15. Bipolar/BPD is not something to mess around with. Medication is totally legitimate in this case.

But ADHD is not, IMO, a real disorder. The cure is to pull yourself up by the bootstraps and get your shit together. As I mentioned, I was diagnosed with ADHD. I didn't have an adverse reaction to the pills, that's just the way they're designed to make you feel.

I honestly felt like I could concentrate more, but at the cost of feeling extremely... mundane all of the time. Everything was mundane, monotone, and uninteresting. But at least I could concentrate on all the boringness.

In the end, it stunted my physical growth (I was the shortest kid in class for the longest time) and ultimately set my mental development back. The pills are a crutch and they prevent you from growing up on your own; instead you become reliable on medication to do it for you. That isn't the way it's supposed to work.

So yes, the pills work for their stated goal. But at what cost?

I too was diagnosed with ADHD. Which I will admit I had(have). I have calmed down a lot, not due to the pills. I was on Ritalin for a few years in elementary school... It helped me concentrate and calm down so I wasnt figiting all the time, but I did feel a little dis-associated from everything. I only took them for about two years with no real problems afterwards (as in I no lnger felt dis-associated, yet still hyper like I was before I was on them). I found that video games and cartoons are some of the very few things that actually helped me with the ADHD. As in I was able to sit and concentrate on one thing for extended periods of time. I still have problems focusing on one certain thing or task without jumping around (pisses my wife off when I try to do the dishes and end up folding half the laundsry cleaning half the bathroom, and none of it is completly done. I was going to finish it I just got distracted with the other things I saw nearby (a dirty dish towel led to the laundry, and so on). I still have really no problems functioning without pills, and don't feel they are necessary for everyone. Some people do need them, others will be fine without them, granted they may seem a little weird or eccentric but all in all still be able to function just fine.
