Yank the battery, remove the AC power, then hold the ON button in the ON position for 10 seconds to drain any residual charge. Then let it sit for 10 mins. Then put the battery back in, plug in the AC power, and turn it on.
->If nothing shows up on the screen push the brightness button and see if something shows up (this worked for me).
->If the brightness button does nothing just leave the PSP alone with the black screen for 10mins and try the brightness button again just in case it was working on something.
->If that doesn't work turn it off, repeat step one, then hold down the R button and continue holding it while you turn the PSP on and see if you get the recovery menu.
If all that doesn't work it's most likely bricked. I've heard from some people that you can call the 800 number, don't tell them what you did (play dumb), and they will take it to their service station via mail and fix it.
