Hi im going to buy a psp very shortly and i want too know which firmware i have to buy? as im new to psp i want the psp to play games from the memory stick. |

You would want to try to get your hands on a psp that has a firmware version 2.80 or lower because 2.80 and lower does not require the use of an UMD to downgrade. It will be hard to find a psps with these firmwares, they only come with used psps, but if you are looking to by a new psp, you would want to get one that is 3.50 or lower to dowgrade but it requires the use of an UMD.

how should i check if it has the right firware?
i mean, i read some important stickys but in order to check the firmware, i have to turn on the psp right? when i want to buy the psp, i cannot ask them to turn on the psp to check which firmwqare i got, i think |

To the thread starter, see if you can get your hands on a nice used PSP, they usually have lower firmware. The lower the better, because you have more options. Quote:

There are way you can check by the box. Search around the forums as I dont have the link.

hey, canadianbonatic. that was a great help. i will look for a very nice used one. but most new ones do not come with the original sony box. so the only choice i have, is to turn on the psp, right?? |

Just buy a used of ebay, much cheaper and at least you can buy it already flashed with ISO's. |
