Please help a noob out! I have PSP firmware 3.11, which based on what I've read here, I can modify to install custom firmware (I still need to find Lumines). What I haven't been able to figure out here is the difference between all the versions of custom firmware. All I really want to do is:

- Play the original PSP UMD games I have
- Play my music (MP3s)
- Play NES roms
- Play Genesis roms
- Play SNES roms
- And maybe play PSX games, although this isn't a priority

I don't care about themes, PS3 connectivity, or any of that fancy stuff. For my purposes, which version of custom firmware would you recommend?

Also, if someone can summarize the difference (i.e. the added benefits) between these versions, I would appreciate it: 1.50, 3.40oea, 3.52m33, 3.71m33, 3.80m33, and 3.90m33.

If you want to do all the things you have posted I recommend 3.80 M33-5
It is the most stable cfw and has more features than the lower custom firmwares, e.g. PSP Radio. Also, the higher the cfw, the more compatibility it has with Emulators and ISO's.
However, don't go to 3.90 M33 as it is not that great for fat PSP's as it doesn't support Skype (a Slim does) and it has trouble with emulators and PSX games.

So 3.80 M33 is your best option
