no.333 is the highest it can go currently and thats not overclocking.sony defaults it to 222 but the processing bits are actually 333

so its not overclocking but does make your spsp fast as hell

technically the 333mhz can be called an overclock. I mean, yeah the processor was made to go up to 333mhz but sony made left it at 222mhz for whatever reason. And thats not changable unless you have a custom firmware. so technically it is overclocking......kinda but not really...lol

anyway, i wouldnt recommend running it at 333mhz. the effects of running the psp at 333mhz for long periods of time is unknown.

I ran my psp at 300mhz for 2 weeks. When i stopped running it at 300mhz and went back to 222mhz, my battery had problems and drained faster then normal at 222mhz. When i went back to 300mhz, it drained even faster then at 222mhz. So my battery got screwed up and i got another one.

what about running only resource intensive games at 300/333?
would you say that that could be as adverse to battery life?

@shiv:
possibly

@southpaw117:
DUH!!!! They just slapped on 32mb more RAM allowing games to run faster. Thats pretty much all they did as far as speed goes.

@itzzspencer:
yeah i heard about that too. Funny none the less. Wonder how fast it would be if it actually stayed on.

@southpaw117:
not always true. just keep it open and keep a fan blowing on it lol! That would be fun. lug around a fan just to go 178mhz faster.

333mhz is the highest processing speed of the PSP. Even at 333mhz, you won't realize much difference from 222mhz or lower unless you're playing GTA or GoW.

10 - overclock the psp? 10 - overclock the psp?

Thanks, here is what I found:
-PSP CPU can range from 1-333Mhz
-Overclocking only to 366Mhz causes the PSP to become buggy, and it has a 30% chance of actually booting up to the XMB, let alone playing games, and will eventually freeze up.
-The faster your CPU speed, the more mAh it uses (Battery life). I set it to 66Mhz, which is enough speed to allow music to be played, and it lasted about 13 hours on my slim, standard 1200 mAh battery. on 333Mhz, while play GTA, it lasted about 5 hours.
-If you have M33 custom, and your just listening to music, press select to turn down the XMB CPU to 66Mhz, start the music, and hold down the screen light button to turn off the screen and save more power, lasts 13 hours.

Torch's Hold+ plugin, found here, can automate that process, if you're interested. I use it all the time when I'm listening to music.

You didn't have to say it like that. I always thought the clock speed was increased.

In that case you could just disconnect everything, turn it into a mini PC and buy some top-name CPU and GPU coolers.
