So it's been a while since I have had to do anything to my PSP, I have been pretty content with the version I have that allows me to play NES/SNES/PSX games. I borrowed a game from a friend of mine and it tells me I need to install the 4.02 update for it to work. Well, I'm not going to do that because it will blow away the work I have already done.

What should I be looking to do? I have been away from this scene for quite a while and I'm behind on the new firmware versions.

I started with 2.71 down to 1.5 then up to 3.03OE-C.

What should I be looking to upgrade to and what are the easiest methods? Is there a direct upgrade from 3.03? Or am I going to have to drop back?

Any advice is appreciated.

woah geezer luks like you've been off the scene. I'm new around here but i sure do know quite a bit. To start update to 3.52 M33. From there go to 3.71 M33. Then From there you can go to 3.90 M33, 4.01 M33. I recommend you go to 5.02 GEN-A if you dont use cxmb and if you use cxmb then go to 5.00 M33-6
Hope this helped. Peace out!!

Thanks for the info. Am I able to go directly from 3.03OE-C to 3.52 M33? Or will I need to go back to 1.5 then to 3.52 M33. Or since I have an OE firmware can I go directly to 5.02 GEN-A? Or does it need to be done through the incremental upgrades

I think you should try hellcat's recovery flasher to upgrade to the latest firmware
It always works for me[Lol i have tried 2 times]
Got this link from this site here:
sendspace.com/file/0nw28r
Just copy it to psp>>game folder and follow onscreen instructions.
This is the easiest way to upgrade!

I can go into recovery. I installed it when I upgraded to 3.03OE-C.

Anyone else have info on what 'watsindname?' is posting? I have seen the same post but no replies on how successful it is.

10 - 3.03 OE-C to.... ??? 10 - 3.03 OE-C to.... ???

Worked like a charm. Though I did get the same "WARNING: Error 0x80010018 while unassigning flash1:" error as the poster in the other thread. The device shut down and did not reset manually. I had to pull the battery and being it back up. Came up with the 5.00 M33-4.

Thanks for the help

actually cxmb for gen-a does exist as well as a convertor to convert 5.00 themes to gen-a,so the cxmb things not accurate.otherwise not bad advice

14 - 3.03 OE-C to.... ??? 14 - 3.03 OE-C to.... ???

ok so I have the new firmware. I tried to start up my nes emulator and get error: 80020148.

I look up the error in apathy's thread and format my mem stick according to the note.

I put the two nesterJ folders back into the game150 folder, try to run it, same error. I go into recovery an set the UMD Mode in configuration to M33 driver -NO UMD-. Same error.

I tried disabling the options in advanced -> advanced configuration.... same error.

Any ideas? I use the nesterj 1.20 beta.

**Update: So I have tried a few other things. My ISOs seem to work fine. I formatted the mem card in windows then formatted on the PSP. I read up on the error and some recommended installing the 1.50 addon. THough typically this was only called for on 3.71M33. I installed it anyway, no dice. I changed the homebrew kernel in recovery to 1.50 (was 5.xx). Still the same error. I moved the folders for nesterJ to the PSP/Game folder, no help.

I see in some threads people advising to reflash the firmware. Is this a good option? Would I be able to use Hellcat's Recovery to flash to 1.5 then back to 5?
