1 - My PsP Phat thinks its a Slim.. (Firmware problem)
After upgrading from 4.01 M33 to the 5.50 Gen D my PsP cannot boot normally anymore. I have to remove my memory card in order for it to boot otherwise I get the message "Firmware not supported please turn off PsP". I have found out that the firmware that was downloaded onto my card is for the PsP Slim instead of the Phat. I don't understand why it installed the Slim firmware instead, but I wish to have it instead the Phat firmware so it will work correctly again.
My problem is that I lack the intelligence to know how to do something like this or if it's even possible without wiping the whole card and restarting. Would there be a real reason that it thought my PsP was a Slim instead of a Phat? |

If there isn't a difference in the firmwares between Slim and Phat then why would I be getting that error (Firmware not supported please turn off PsP) message when I turn my PsP on? |

Please post a picture or something.

Here are pictures showing turn on with and without my memory card inside. After turning on without the memory card I can put it right back in and run programs, but I just can't get back to home screen after using a program without getting the error again. Could it be something on the card failing? You have to delete the space between "ht" and "tp" for link as I cannot post url's yet with my current post count.
The error message with memory card during bootup:

Normal running without memory card:

Side notes: My PsP did have a 4.01 theme on it, could this theme be screwing with bootup? |

The firmware isn't stored on the memory card, it's in the internal memory, so that couldn't be your problem anyway.

I just deleted it off the card yet I still have the same problem. Would there be any other causes? Or ways the theme could still be causing issues even though I disabled CXMB and got rid of it. (Also even changed the theme after.) |

(Also even changed the theme after.) | Try deleting CXMB altogether, since I noticed you said you went to 5.50 GEN, it won't be compatible at all. Also disable any other plugins you might be running.

I found the issue. I had IRshell and it was for the lower version I had before. After deleting that all works fine now. Thank you for all your help. I can't believe I didn't check with all my programs before this. |

Yeah whenever you update firmware, you should always disable all of your current plugins, because chances are some/all won't work with the new firmware.
