Firmware Installed: 3.71 Original

Default Newbie to Homebrew Apps / Games and ISOs

Hello guys and greetings from Cyprus.

It's been a month since I got my hands on a PSP-Slim and I still haven't managed to figure out how to play ISOs. (that's my main concern, homebrew has to do with custom firmware apparently)

I'm running the original 3.71 version and I've been thinking of updating / downgrading to a version that'll allow me to play ISOs from my memory stick without losing the features that came with PSP-Slim.

My questions:

a) What's the process and which firmware do you recommend?
b) What's the process for installing the ISO loader?
c) What's the chance of having my PSP bricked? (I won't be the one flashing the bios etc for the custom firmware)
d) Will I have to install FastLoader / UMDLoader? I did try installing them but ISOs don't run.

Thanks in advance, people.

I don't really know what to search for seeing as I don't even know if the questions I've asked really are related... i.e. Firmware version related to loading ISOs...

Please help!

Well lets make it simple, A,B,C,D > Custom firmwire (No ISO loader/Emulation needed), Chances of bricks are low, and recovery now a days is easy as pie.

I guess you don't get the question.

For instance, will updating to 3.71-M33 CF and adding an ISO game in the GAME subfolder of my memory stick make the ISO playable. I know that's what happens with the Fat PSPs and I'm trying to figure out whether it's so easy with PSP-Slim.

I understand your frustration seeing as you've probably answered this kind of questions a thousand times, but I don't know what to search for to find the answers I'm looking for.

Sorry for being a pain in the ass.

It's exactly the same, it's like trying to compare windows 95 to 98 in terms. Software will work regardless.

Sorry, but do you always answer that way?

A simple "ISOs [do] / [do not] work on 3.71-M33" would suffice, but you prefer to answer with riddles that leave doubts in my mind.

It seems to me that you are annoyed by my questions so I'll simply stop asking. Good night and thanks for all the help you've tried to give me.

It's simple answers, ISO's are backed up images of games. Just like Roms they are. They work regardless of the Custom Firmwire, anything over 3.03OEa I believe. So Yes, It Should work on 3.71M33.

There's no giant differances between Fat/Slim's running firmwires. It's the exact same. Like Windows Xp to Windows Vista ( lmao).
