NOOB NOTE - SEPluggins FYI
When you download pluggins for your CFW PSP and the installation instructions tell you to simply copy the folders to the root of your PSP - YOU MUST HEAD MY WARNING.
Sometimes - the readme.txt will tell you about this, sometimes it will not.
In your SEPlugins Folder off the root of your memory stick you will find 3 text files.
pops.txt
game.txt
vsh.txt
Pops is for when your PSP is running PSX games.
Game is for when your PSP is running a game (UMD or from GAME folder)
VSH is when you are simply using the PSP XMB.
Each text file (go ahead and examine your own) contains paths to specific PRX files. Thos eprx files are the pluggins you want to use. You can have PRX files in your SEPlugins directory and never know it if you do not include the correct path within one, two or all three text files.
Those text files allow the pluggin to be visible in the recovery console. Without an entry, they will not appear in the recovery console.
When you include an entry, it will appear in the recovery console so you can enable or disable it for what ever part of your PSP subsystem you want depending on the txt file you have the entry in.
If you install a plugin and it comes with it's own SEPluggins\vsh.txt or game.txt or pops.txt, and you copy it to your memory stick, you will erase your original text files.
So check your pluggins folders before you copy anything over. What you need to do is copy everything from your new pluggin install archive SEpluggin folder to your SEpluggin folder except for the 3 text files I am talking about.
Then, open each text file from your new pluggin archive, copy the text in it and add that text to your text file of the same name. This way you will not lose what you already have.
Save your newly edited text file and restart your psp.
This is basic info - but not for any newbie to the scene.
Also - try to keep a track record of your pluggins. Some will conflict with others. Like for instance, a recent addition to PSP mod is the screen shot pluggin that uses the music button to take screen shots. Well, a pluggin like CFW extender also uses the music button. If you install both and do not know this, it will cause you issues.
Lastly - I do not know the limit of pluggins you can loist in the text files but I do know (unless there is a trick I missed) that you can only have so many pluggins in the recovery console. So if you only have 3 pluggins on your PSP but you include an entry for them in all 3 text files, that will mean the recovery console will need to display 9 options. 3 plugins for vsh, 3 for game and 3 for pops. I think the limit is 6 or 7 or something likee that, it's pretty low, so be aware of this as well.
I've had several people have issues recently and it's all due to what I have posted above, so now I can simply link noobs here or have them search, I hope this helps. |
