Engadget has an article up about how someone bugged out a Gripshift save file and was able to create a buffer overflow exploit. Here is the article.

"The notoriously-difficult PSP-3000 model (also known as PSP Brite) has finally been hacked, this time without the need for a downgrader tool. MaTiAz's "The Sparta!!!" exploit was allegedly discovered after overwriting the player's name in a GripShift save file with "this is spartaaaaa..." -- with 57 a's tacked onto the end -- and is now available for download along with a new SDK. It's said to work with PSP firmware versions 1.52 through the current 5.02. The Hello World proof of concept video is after the break. amazing this is good news now all i need to convince me is

A. see it running 5.02 M33 GENA

B. see a guide on howe to do it.

C. have them come out with a GOW brite edition so i feel better about upgrading my current GOW 2001 ed.

for one thing,this has been posted many times yesterday on here,do research.for another thing you are mislead my friend.we will still need a downgrader.all this does is prove that unsigned code can be run thru the game,whitch means someone will have to write a downgrader for it so people can use this exploit instead of a pandora and mms.it still has some time to go before its fully cracked,but this is a start

its not really a hack, its an exploit. it cant even do anything to the PSP yet except run homebrew, no CFW or downgrade until we can find a way to get it into kernel mode.

OK this is great but when will the TA 088v3 be hacked for those who have only that model and wish to play homebrew and mess around with exploits? You mean to tell me that the infamous "3000" model has an exploit but we can't get into the v3's kernel.....somebody out there can and maybe already have gotten into the TA 088v3. If there's anyone out there who has cracked the kernel please post and let us know.
