I'm not a programmer before I start this.
AND THIS IS NOT BEING DISCUSSED FOR PIRACY PURPOSES

We have the PSN Store for official releases right? Why about having a custom firmware version of it that is all homebrew apps, community contributions, etc etc. One that can be accessed from the PSP via a wifi connection. If I'm correct the official version is basically a fancy website that relies on java scripting. So theoretically.... it's possible right?

yeah i think it'd be possible. not sayin i could do it though. i have one of my ctf themes and it enabled an icon that lets me go right to a special website for more ctf themes

hmmm,. like a site that lets you directly DL games to their respective folders? i think it is possible to DL the files, but the organization into the right folders may be a pain, but hey, official FW boots can, why not?

o and its kind of like the iphone/itouch's content delivery, am i correct?

Essentially. Theoretically we could even use the same page layout. As for the directories... since it's a browser based app...it'll give us the option to download it a certain directory.

Idk if you people have forgotten but dl.qj.net is probably the best place to go for homebrew/demos/apps/ect. It works on the psp and all the links they provide are direct links. So no rapidshare or megaupload(though there is a homebew app called fsdpsp which lets you download from rapidshare or megaupload)

As for organizing the files you just use psp filer 5.6 (or w/e the newest version is) and move your files around that way. It lets you unzip your files and move them around your memory card and other neat little features.

Not quite. The PC Playstation Store is little more than a website with heavy use of javascript, but the PSP Store is hard-coded in the firmware.

That said, there was a guy on qj.net who put some work into reverse engineering the store and was developing a CFW plugin that redirected all PS Store requests to his own server. I'm not sure how far that went, though, and I'm having trouble finding the thread.

Edit: I could be thinking of something altogether different, all I'm finding is a crappy LUA lookalike that never took off.

mitochondria has a point, QJ does have direct download, along with PSP filer. but it would be nice to have a one-step option

but files on QJ are usually zipped..or are rar files so if there is a homebrew that can extract rar files...it wud b gr8...

PSP filer... it's mentioned above. Iono. It was just an Idea. something a little more accessible and user friendly.
