You could always buy a barebones system which is the case, with mobo, video card etc..allready installed. All you need to buy is a CPU, DVD drive, Hard drive etc... and install them. It'd be much easier, and i find barebones are a lot cheaper.

Aside from the fact that 16 GB of RAM is total overkill, you'd have to be pulling components from other computers, like all that RAM, if you're computer is topping out at $1200, you know, seeing as how that much RAM alone will set you back $1000.

In terms of brands names, I would stick with theses:
evga for video cards (probably second best performance and always good reviews, they dont really do insanely overclocked cards)
asus for mobo
coolermaster for case or something spiffy if you found it
lite on for cd / player
but honestly, your setup looks good. just read up on reviews but dont over obsess. have fun!

Its an intel board though, if that makes any difference to you. I have that mobo and a E6750 and its pretty freaking sweet.
The only thing not on the list is ram. Look for a sale. Newegg has great sales on ram. I got 2x2gb ddr2 ram from OCZ for $40 after rebate. Plus, with the GA-P35 board up there^^ you can upgrade to a total of 8gb later, so it doesnt make sense to get anything except 2gb sticks.
My $0.02 anyway...
oh, and to combat what smilesnorg just said, i would go with an XFX gfx card. On most of their cards they offer a lifetime warranty that covers overclocking. Their warranty is sometimes their "double lifetime warranty" which means that if you sell that card the 2nd owner gets the lifetime warranty as well, so the resale value is high if you need to upgrade. I had an xfx 6200 that i bought for $30 (after rebate, mind you) then sold again for $30 a year later. Put that $30 toward an XFX 8600gt and have never been happier.
