Ubuntu Server Help
So I just up and decided to make my own server, so I installed 9.10 ubuntu server edition, but I need help, I've never run or made my own network, so help me out here. Here's what I want to do
-share a portable harddrive on my network
-configure a printer to run on my network
-just get the damn thing to work

Ubuntu Server Help
1) Buy a NAS HDD like a SimpleShare, which has USB ports to share external drives/USB devices throughout a network
2) Buy a network printer
or
You could have just used a normal Windows installation to do this.

Scroll down to Graphical Configuration. Basically, you're installing the Samba frontend GUI (if you haven't already) so you have a "share" option for mounts and folders.

sounds good. i haven't used ubuntu in a few months, but I'm still pretty knowledgeable if you need any more help. If you want to get used to using linux syntax/commands within Windows, install Cygwin, which is basically a linux commandline for Windows.
