There's a lot of people new to Firefox who could really use this, and even the seasoned user could use a nice list.
These are either my favorite, or some of the best extensions for Firefox.

If you have an extension to add to the list, leave the name of it, and a short description, and preferably link to it too.

If this list says around, and is useful. I'll add more, and organize it a bit better.

AdBlock Plus - Gets rid of ads and annoying pop-ups, and you can install filters to work with ABP. If you ever see an ad again, just right-click, and click "AdBlock" from the menu.

Adblock Filterset.G Updater - It automatically downloads the latest version of Filterset.G every 4-7 days.

DownThemAll! - Lets you download all the links or images contained in a webpage and much more. You can refine your downloads by fully customizable criteria to get only what you really want.

Download Statusbar - Adds a statusbar to your downloads.

Fasterfox - Performance and network tweaks to make your browsing faster.

NoScript - Allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice. It makes Firefox truly the safest browser there is.

TrackMeNot - A lightweight browser extension that protects web-searchers against surveillance and data-profiling. It does so by noise and obfuscation. With TrackMeNot, actual web searches, lost in a cloud of false leads, are essentially hidden in plain view. TrackMeNot works with the Firefox Browser and popular search engines, e.g. AOL, Yahoo!, Google, and MSN, and requires no 3rd-party servers or services.

Greasemonkey - Allows you to customize the way a webpage displays using small bits of JavaScript.

FoxyTunes - Lets you control almost any media player and find lyrics, covers, videos, bios and much more with a click right from your browser. Controls are placed in the status bar, and are hide-able/expandable from the status bar.

Forecastfox - Get international weather forecasts from AccuWeather.com, and display it in any toolbar or statusbar. It's pretty neat if your an up-to-date weather person, but I wasn't a fan.

Dict - Lets you easily look up the definition of words on a Web page using an online dictionary. Simply select a word, right-click, and you'll see a menu option to define the selected word.

    Google Toolbar
    - Adds a toolbar to Firefox. I love it, and use it every day. It does so much, I'll just link you to it's feature list.

    Image Zoom
    - Easily zoom in, zoom out, fit image to screen or set custom zoom on individual images within a web page. You'll use it for more than you think...

    PDF Download
    - Allows to choose if you want to view a PDF file inside the browser (as PDF or HTML), if you want to view it outside Firefox with your default or custom PDF reader, or if you want to download it! It's very helpful because Firefox doesn't handle PDF's too well, so you can be able to cancel it, or just view it as HTML.

    TinyURL Creator
    - TinyUrl brings the TinyURL.com - shorten that long URL into a Tiny URL functionality into your browser. It takes a long URL as input, and gives you a short URL to use in it's place. Very useful.

Stop-or-Reload Button - Replaces the stop and reload button with just one button. I.E. When you can stop, you get a Stop button, otherwise you get a Reload button.

    Mouse Gestures
    - Allows you to execute common commands (like page forward/backward, close tab, new tab) by mouse gestures drawn over the current webpage, without reaching for the toolbar or the keyboard.
You can also use click-only "rocker" gestures which are even faster than drawn gestures.

easyGestures - The fast straight mouse gestures you perform this way save you from reaching toolbars, menus and keyboard and keep you from having to memorize any gestures. All behaviors and actions are customizable.

All-in-One Gestures - merges the popular following extensions for management of mouse gestures, scrolling and power navigation. (Mix of Mouse Gestures, Rocker navigation, Tab scroller, History scroller, Link tooltip and Autoscrolling extensions)

It's cool, but doesn't it take longer to switch tabs. And at least for me, it would get annoying after a little while...

Like, in my web design class, the teacher has us "be creative" with our sites.
So for a presentation once, I put a right to left wipe effect for the page transition, and made it take 20 seconds to complete.
That was annoying enough, but then I "forgot" an important feature of one page so I had to go back and forth again... Haha.

I'll add it, but I can do it all faster without them.
And, I'm a keyboard shortcut person. But not everyone is...
