What does it say when you get a blue screen? Is there anything specific you do that causes it to happen? When does it Happen (Such as, does it happen as soon as you install windows, or during the install, etc.).

we will probably need some more info, like cyanide is asking.

if you are doing a fresh installation, i think windows should have a way to format the partition you are trying to install to.

if you are trying to format a partition, there might be some physical problem with the drive. do a error-check on it to see if there are bad sectors on the drive.
    2.01 -> 2.71 -> 1.50 -> 3.40-OE -> 3.52m33-4 -> 3.90m33-3
now let's see what this baby can do!

once you format the partition you shouldn't get any errors unless it would have bad sectors our the heads are about to crash. Do you ever get a clicking sound? Try getting a copy of Drive Fitness test by hitatchi (DFT). It will scan your drive and tell you if its bad

you usually get an error code that looks like

0X00000AB look up this error to see what it means

Also can you run a checkdisk on your system ?

ok, i think we are going to need step by step what you are actually doing. please start from the very beginning.

also, as another thing to try, your memory may have gone bad. try taking out you memory and putting one in at a time (if it can run in singles, won't work if it runs in pairs). if it runs in pairs, then try switching the chips in the slots. i had a friend that had memory issues. i told him to switch the memory in the slots, and it worked.

If you are using your XP disk to format are you doing a quick or a full? You don't need to do a full format quick will work just fine. What check did you use to check your hard drives health? If you didn't use DFT or Seatools I wouldn't trust it.

download the file and create a bootdisk via NERO and then restart your computer and set it to boot to CD and it will run the application run a full scan on your drive.

Just boot from windows xp cd,
And format from windows xp installer.

But if still got BSOD, dont format the partition, but,
Delete the partition, by pressing D.
And create new partition by pressing C.
And format.

If after deleting the partition and still got BSOD, i think your hdd is broken. Or your ram, or both.
