I love AVG... Great AV program.

Edit: I hope the mirror is good...
I already installed it. Is there a MD5 or anything?

It must offer better, or more updates or something.
Because, I checked for updates on free, and then installed pro, and there were three updates for it right then.

AVG Free has about a 90% coverage where the pro has about 99% virus coverage difference.

But I don't used AVG anymore, I used them the day they got good, and left the day they went to shit.

I would recommend for all your anti-virus needs to be Kaspersky.

I'm not a big fan of paying for software, and I don't want to go through all the trouble of using pirated versions and then re-doing all my efforts when updates come about.

the differences that ive noticed are that you get updates faster, you have more coverage when scanning, and if you are one of those people that like to have 9000 background programs running, this can offer instant spyware coverage.

Too lazy to get a pirated version of Kaspersky. I also use AVG, but it's starting to annoy me with the countless updates it gives me.

    Updates are good.

    Kaspersky has hourly updates...
Oh, and Kaspersky thinks explorer.exe is a virus.

The best anti-virus/firewall is ZoneAlarms. Not saying how I did it, but its a license for over 150 years (58270 days remaining) and it used to be slow, now that i run it in the background, I am completely satisfied. It blocks anything that I don't want happening, and has a reminder option so it does not get annoying (Vista...?) I used it for four years now, and never have a problem. Just to be on the safe side, I also use SpyBot and Ad-Aware. My PC is totally clean, and running super fast (at least for a 4.2ghz AMD and a gig of ram)

I personally recommend Avast!...Not only is the virus scan quick and thorough (an option) as well as stay up to date with new vriuses to scan and delete...But it also comes with a bunch of resident providers which are special modules used to protect certain sub-systems of the computer...these include: Instant messaging, Internet mail, Network Shield, Outlook/Exchange, P2P Shield, Script Blocking, Standard Shield and Web Shield...These resident providers run at all time when your computer is on unless it is turned off...Highly recommended AV program.
    Game Systems: PS1, PS2 x 2, X-Box with media center, Nintendo Wii w/WiiKey modchip.

Multimedia Systems: PSP Slim W/ CFW 3.71 M33-3, 30GB IPod Video w/ Custom Theme+Rockbox+Podzilla, 4 GB IPod Nano (Newest generation), 30GB Zune.

explorer.exe, is a virus... I don't call it I-Exploit for nothing. It's likely you got the explorer hijacked by something. (Always happens.)

Zonealarm is garbage when it comes to Anti-virus needs, because A, its a Clone of AVG. B, it's only good as a firewall.

Avasti I personally wouldn't go near. They've been known to be bought by spammers, and anything that has modules to help p2p is a big no-no in my book for security.
