need antivirus software now!

well, the virus screwed me over BIG time. i had to reinstall winXP. which isnt bad because i didnt have anything i cant redownload or reinstall, its just that im a lazy bastard. but ill use virus software to protect myself now. thx for fast replies.

seriously, even after reinstalling winXP, the spyware/viruses have gotten worse! they have disabled task manager and my security center, im gonna plug my ethernet cord to my system instead of wireless network for a while see if that helps but i jhave to wait for avg to finish DLing.

AVG has changed ALOT since i last had it. its for the worse. the new interface is ugly and vista like. i cant stand it let alone figure out why it wont scan my comp.

Then you must have done something pretty stoopid if you got the same virus again after a complete format.

NOD32 is the best A/V. Go use it.

i think someone is inside my network or w/e, i disabled my router and plugged my ethernet back into my PC instead of my router. is it possible for something like that to happen?

the first thing you need to do is download hijackthis
rename hijackthis to aslawerejh or anything (some spyware programs have been designed to hide if hijackthis or hjt is running, you must rename it)
run a scan, save a report
post the results in Tech Support Guy - Free help for Windows Vista, XP, and more!

or if you trust yourself, you can search google for each specific entry and manually remove it
but bewarned that if you delete the entry, its gone forever.
