I just modded my third psp today. and I couldn't help to notice that this PSP's home brew stuff was glitchy, and slow, and often paused. my first thought is, maybe it was because I updated it above 3.80m33-5 because the other two I modded were lower than that. but I kept on messing around with it. I noticed a pattern and that pattern was any time that it used the memory stick it was messing up.

the memory stick in that psp was a "memory stick duo high speed". the ones I had in the other 2 were just regular ones. I just realized that this could be because the programmers that made the homebrews might have been working off of the normal ones. and has me thinking that, maybe that makes it so they aren't very compitble with the highspeed.

I'm just writting this for all those who might be experiencing slow emulation. pauses in emulation. or slow downs in other forms of homebrews. or pauses or even crashes in other homebrews.

it could be your memory stick.

but I was also wondering if maybe my memory stick duo high speed might be damanaged. is this a known issue?

It's probably a fake one. Does it support MagicGate?
    Google.com - Man's best friend.
Prizerebel.com - Free shit. It works. Received $183.864 worth of prizes so far.

at first I didn't know what you meant. so I did a bunch of research on wikipedia and other sites. and yes it does have MG. the only difference that I can tell is. is that it says highspeed on it. while other memory sticks don't say highspeed. and they run flawlessly.

it's probably as I assumed and. all the programs where based off of a regular speed stick. so it would make sense.

I notice it the most when I use my emulator on one game. it's actual what made me realize it and check with a non highspeed one. every time you walk on the map to a different location. the game saves. and you do it frequantly on that game. so I noticed a lot of freezing and I kept looking it my psp. and noticing it was only freezing when accessing my memory stick.

I'm going to try buying another highspeed one. just incase it's just an all around bunk stick to begin with. that way I can prove to myself and others (as a warning) that the highspeed memory stick duos might alter and lesson your enjoyment with your PSP homebrews. it seems to work just perfectly to save games on all 3 of my psp.s it's just when it is on homebrew. and that's what makes me think it might be because the programers where only basing it off a regular speed.

yes it has the same problem on the other 2 PSP's but, as I said only when accessing the the memory card(like on wario land 4 every time you walk on the map it saves in the middle of it and it has a great pause) or when other non-emulator homebrew programs are being used and access the memory stick.

it's definitely the memory card. but is it all highspeed memory sticks or just that one... that's what I'm trying to figure out.

I tried looking for another highspeed one. and no luck finding them. walmart told me they didn't know highspeed ones even existed and so I showed them it. and they were baffled.

so when ever I get the chance to buy one. I will and I'll tell you my experiences... remember all regularly memory sticks are working perfectly. I was hoping to know if somebody else out there had a highspeed memory stick duo or should I say memory stick duo highspeed. because that's the order it's written in.

does anybody else have this memory card.

as I said before. it works perfectly (100%) perfectly with the regular PSP games(UMD's) it's just every single homebrew or emulator.

I think it could bee that they never made the custom firmware compatible with playing homebrew games on a high speed memory stick. thats just a guess but it's definitley having problems with a that memory stick so see if you could go to gamestop and buy a used high speed memory stick if nobody has them the most likely cause is they never looked good on the memory stick to see it says high speed what dumbies

okay I just did that. and same problem. I downloaded a psp game from my ps3 and a ps1 game from my ps3. and they work both perfectly. but again the homebrew didn't work perfectly. so yes. it is the highspeed memory sticks. they just aren't good for homebrew I guess. but they actually perform a little better. on the licensed. non-homebrew stuff

hmmm. this makes me wonder about buying the memory stick PRO-HG duo.

maybe I'll have to think twice before I purchase something that expensive. maybe the extra speed will slow down my performance again.???? does anybody know how well these memory sticks perform?

they are said to transfer up to 3 times the speed of a regular memory stick duo.

that's why they cost so much more.
